Hong's on-topic record runs in two directions of the brief: federal military aid, and Wisconsin's own contracting rules. In late March 2024 she authored the letter, signed by 20 Wisconsin elected officials, endorsing the state's 'Uninstructed' ballot campaign ahead of the April 2, 2024 Democratic presidential primary; the letter stated that elected officials 'have an undeniable responsibility to stand with the Palestinian people in loving solidarity and demand an end to military aid to Israel and ensure the taxpayers are no longer complicit in a genocide that is funded by our government', and the campaign's accompanying press release called on other officials to support 'an immediate, unconditional and lasting cease-fire and serious steps toward lasting peace in Gaza'. As a legislator she is the lead author of 2025 Assembly Bill 1147, circulated as draft LRB-0750 in February 2026, which would repeal Wisconsin's 2017 Act 248 -- the Walker-era law barring state agencies and local government units from boycotting Israel and requiring state contractors to certify that they are not participating in such a boycott unless the contract is worth less than $100,000. She was the first-named author when the bill was introduced on March 13, 2026, and the legislature's own record shows it failed to pass at the end of the session on March 23, 2026. She describes the bill as ensuring 'that people can protect their right to free speech, their right to boycott and their right to protest', and her campaign issues page lists 'supporting legislation she wrote protecting the right to boycott' among her free-speech commitments. At the Wisconsin Muslim Civic Alliance gubernatorial forum in Oak Creek on July 1, 2026, she was among the attending candidates who said they would repeal that anti-boycott law. On money, she has written in her own words that she is 'NOT TAKING ANY CORPORATE PAC MONEY OR AIPAC MONEY'; the Times of Israel and JTA separately report she 'has spurned AIPAC support', while noting that AIPAC largely spends in federal elections and has not historically endorsed in state races. Her endorsers include U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar and Ro Khanna and three Wisconsin chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America; none of the five tracked committees has endorsed her.
