Michael Masuda
Michael Masuda’s campaign has published a statement on Gaza that takes a position on both directions of U.S. support. Under the heading “Conditional U.S Military Aid” he writes: “I support a halt to U.S. lethal military aid to Israel until a clear path to a lasting peace and a sovereign, viable Palestinian state is secured,” adding that “the United States cannot continue unconditional military support which risks complicity in human rights violations.” In the same statement he calls for “an immediate, permanent ceasefire and the unrestricted flow of humanitarian aid,” and says aid delivery “must be secured and protected to reach all affected populations immediately.” He also says Israel “has a right to defend itself from Hamas brutality” and backs a two-state solution. The post is headed 8 December with no year shown; it refers to the UN Security Council authorising an International Security Force under the U.S.-led Gaza peace plan, which places it after those events.
