But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
Two reviewers, reading the public record as a whole, agree: His platform says "Stop funding Israel's military" and "End all military aid for offensive purposes", his Ballotpedia answers back cutting funding for Israel, and he calls the war "the Gaza genocide", with nothing pointing the other way. Reviewed by hand on 2026-10-01. This candidate has no recorded tracked floor votes.
Pete Lynch, a political science lecturer at the University of Kentucky, is the Kentucky Party's candidate for Kentucky's 6th District, an open seat; his campaign site says he runs as an independent with the support of that new political group. He filed on April 29, 2026 and faces Ralph Alvarado, the Republican, Zach Dembo, the Democrat, Jay Bowman, an independent, and Robert Quigley, an independent write-in. He has never held office, so there are no votes on this record.
The foreign policy section of his campaign platform is short and direct: "End all military aid for offensive purposes," "Stop funding Israel's military," and "Direct foreign aid to food, medicine, and rebuilding communities—not weapons." The same line would require lobbyists for foreign countries to register as foreign agents under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. In his Ballotpedia answers, submitted on August 14, 2026, he lists "cutting ties with (and funding for) Israel" among his positions and names "ending our endless wars on behalf of Israel" as a priority.
His platform's call to send foreign aid for food, medicine and rebuilding names no country, and nothing located has him naming U.S. aid for Palestinians.
“In today's episode of the Kentucky Party podcast I discussed Israel and the Gaza genocide, advocated for ending our relationship with Israel, and called for sanctions against Israel.”
“But I also prioritize fighting back against AI data centers and Flock cameras, creating an affordable healthcare system, building affordable housing, ending our endless wars on behalf of Israel, creating new digital rights for citizens in the modern era, and massively reducing our prison population.”
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
Every page named below was opened and read on 2026-10-08 unless the entry says otherwise. His campaign site was read in full: its home, policies, about, get involved, information for voters and donate pages. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Undated pages are recorded on the date we read them. Lynch has never held office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks is his, and no funding from the committees this site tracks is recorded on this record. Nothing located on this subject falls in the reaction window.
U.S. military aid and weapons to the government of Israel
[Position, read 2026-10-08] His campaign platform, under "Foreign policy": "America’s foreign policy should serve the people, not corporate interests. We must prioritize humanitarian aid, veterans, and domestic investment:" followed by "Amend the War Powers Resolution to so that only Congress can decide whether to go to war or begin new military engagements", "End all military aid for offensive purposes", "Stop funding Israel's military and require all lobbyists that advocate for the interests of foreing countries to register as agents under the FARA", "Direct foreign aid to food, medicine, and rebuilding communities—not weapons" and "Redirect savings to American jobs, schools, and infrastructure". The page gives no date.
[Position, 2026-08-14] His Ballotpedia Candidate Connection answers, which Ballotpedia dates August 14, 2026. In his self-description (written in the third person): "Beyond campaign finance reform, Lynch also supports a moratorium on AI data centers, prohibiting Flock cameras and other ALRPs from sharing information with law enforcement, moving towards Medicare for All, building affordable housing, cutting ties with (and funding for) Israel, and major criminal justice reform to end mass incarceration." Asked what areas of policy he is passionate about: "My number 1 issues is campaign finance reform. But I also prioritize fighting back against AI data centers and Flock cameras, creating an affordable healthcare system, building affordable housing, ending our endless wars on behalf of Israel, creating new digital rights for citizens in the modern era, and massively reducing our prison population."
[Position, 2026-10-05] A short video on his campaign's YouTube channel, titled "US House candidate Pete Lynch (KY-6): "We need to sanction Israel"", published October 5, 2026. Its description: "In today's episode of the Kentucky Party podcast I discussed Israel and the Gaza genocide, advocated for ending our relationship with Israel, and called for sanctions against Israel." The same text heads the same video on his campaign Facebook page. The video itself, 110 seconds long, and the full podcast episode were not watched.
U.S. aid to Palestinians
[Position, read 2026-10-08] His platform would "Direct foreign aid to food, medicine, and rebuilding communities—not weapons". It names no country and no U.S. program for Palestinians. Nothing else located, at any date.
Our research also reported that in the podcast episode he called Israel's system "apartheid" and cited destruction, displacement and child casualties, and that through September and October 2026 he repeatedly called the war a genocide on his campaign's social media. Neither was confirmed: the description above does not use the word apartheid, the episode was not watched, and his Facebook page could not be read.
Israel-related rhetoric and lobbying
[Position, read 2026-10-08] His platform would "require all lobbyists that advocate for the interests of foreing countries to register as agents under the FARA" (the Foreign Agents Registration Act), in the same line as "Stop funding Israel's military".
[Position, 2026-03-20] A video on his campaign's YouTube channel, "US House candidate Pete Lynch (KY-6) explains why he opposes the Iran war and the influence of AIPAC", published March 20, 2026. Its description: "In this video, 2026 US House candidate Pete Lynch (KY-6), a member of the Kentucky Party, discusses why he opposes the Iran war: it's immoral, illegal, and stupid. After outlining five reasons why this war never should have happened in the first place, he closes with his thoughts on the influence of AIPAC and the Israel lobby." The video was not watched.
[Position, 2026-05-28] A short video on the same channel, "KY candidate for US Congress Dr. Pete Lynch (KY-6) on the illegal Iran war and Israel", published May 28, 2026. Its description says he "calls for amending the War Powers Resolution to return war-making powers to Congress, repealing the AUMF, and cutting ties with AIPAC and the Israel lobby." The video was not watched.
[Undated] A post on his campaign Facebook page calls his Republican opponent "AIPAC Alvarado" and criticizes the share of that opponent's funding that comes from small donors. The page carries no date; our research dated it September 4, 2026, which was not confirmed. It is about an opponent's fundraising, not about what the United States sends.
Our research also reported that he called his Democratic opponent "genocide-denying Zach Dembo", challenged his opponents to a debate on foreign policy and Israel, and, in a late-August 2026 Facebook post, disputed the description of Israel as "the only democracy in the Middle East". None of these could be confirmed; the pages they were attributed to could not be read.
Safety and antisemitism
Our research reported an August 27, 2026 comment from his campaign Facebook account, under a post on another page: "Anyone who accuses Mark Ruffalo of antisemitism is just trying to conflate antisemitism with opposition to Israel. They are not the same, and people who try to conflate the two need to be called out". The page it was attributed to, https://www.facebook.com/OccupyWallSt/posts/1495996525893499/ , could not be read, so the wording is not confirmed. Nothing else located, at any date.
What the campaign site and own pages say
[Read 2026-10-08] His home page: a lecturer in the University of Kentucky's Department of Political Science since August 2025, he has taught at the University of Kentucky, Centre College and Eastern Kentucky University; "Dr. Lynch is running as an independent with the support of a new political group, The Kentucky Party." The campaign centers on small-donor funding. His platform puts campaign finance reform first, then data centers, Medicare for All, housing, workers, foreign policy, marijuana, privacy, internet access, education, taxes, energy and criminal justice.
[2025-12-04] The Kentucky Kernel's report on his launch lists his focus on campaign finance, Medicare for All, taxes, housing, data centers and worker profit shares; nothing on foreign policy.
[Read 2026-10-08] His iVoterGuide profile shows "Did not answer" under every question, including the one on Israel. That is a fact about this guide's coverage, not about his views.
[Read 2026-10-08] Ballotpedia: "Zach Dembo, Ralph Alvarado, Pete Lynch, Jay Bowman, and Robert Quigley are running in the general election for U.S. House Kentucky District 6 on November 3, 2026." "There are no incumbents in this race."

Not on the card, and why
The "AIPAC Alvarado" post and the reported remarks about his opponents: about other candidates, and only the first was read. Research page only.
The reported "apartheid" remark, the reported "only democracy" post and the reported antisemitism comment: not confirmed. Research page only.
His Iran war videos: the war with Iran is outside this site's question; their AIPAC passages are described in the deep dive from his own descriptions.
