Jack Bergman
Bergman led a bipartisan resolution in May 2025 urging more U.S. investment in Israel’s missile defense, cyber and intelligence sharing, and that Israel keep its qualitative military edge. He said it "makes clear that Israel’s security is America’s security".
Bergman represents Michigan’s 1st District, covering the Upper Peninsula and the north of the Lower Peninsula. He is a retired Marine Corps lieutenant general and is running for re-election.
His clearest act on this question is legislative. On May 14, 2025 he introduced a resolution, H.Res. 411, with Representatives Don Davis, Jared Golden and Craig Goldman, calling for expanded U.S. and Israeli defense cooperation. It cites joint work on the Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Arrow missile defense systems, and calls for artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to be priorities when the U.S. and Israel renegotiate their Memorandum of Understanding. If adopted it would endorse further U.S. investment in joint defense projects and state that Israel should keep its qualitative military edge. His own words: "Our partnership with Israel is rooted in trust, strength, and shared national security interests."
In March 2026, after joint U.S. and Israeli operations against Iranian targets, he issued a statement on deterrence: "Peace comes through strength, and weakness only emboldens our enemies."
