But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
Two reviewers, reading the public record as a whole, agree: He says American funding and weapons should have no part in Israel's current campaign and the U.S. cannot keep writing blank checks, and nothing in his words says any of it, defensive or not, should continue now. Reviewed by hand on 2026-10-01. This candidate has no recorded tracked floor votes.
Robbie Mahrou is running in New Hampshire's 2nd District as an independent. He grew up in Houston, graduated from Baylor University, and has worked in insurance, lending, talent management and as an independent consultant before settling in Walpole. He reached the November ballot by petition, with more than 1,600 signatures against a threshold of 1,500, and faces Representative Maggie Goodlander, the Democrat, and Lily Tang Williams, the Republican, on November 3. He has never held federal office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks are his.
Two things help read that answer. On the same survey, asked about Ukraine, he drew a line between weapon sales, which he called a legitimate transaction, and open-ended aid, which he opposes; his answer on the government of Israel draws no such distinction and does not say whether sales should continue. And his platform's plank against what he calls forever wars pledges to "Oppose foreign financial commitments while domestic needs go unmet", in terms that name no country; the plank's own figures are about the war with Iran.
Nothing located has him speaking about U.S. humanitarian aid to Palestinians, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, or the aid pipeline into Gaza, and nothing about lobbying groups on this subject or about antisemitism. If you want his view on aid to Palestinians, you are better placed to get it than we are: ask Mahrou directly and send us the reply. It goes on this page in his own words.

In their words
“Beyond Section 224, my position is clear. I do not support Israel's current military campaign. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant for documented war crimes. The United States cannot continue writing blank checks to a government operating under active ICC arrest warrants. There is a line between defense and aggression. That line has been crossed, and American funding and weapons should not be any part of what is happening”
“Section 224 of the 2027 NDAA would deeply entangle U.S. and Israeli defense industries across research, development, co-production, and intelligence cooperation, and would shelter that relationship from regular congressional oversight, making it nearly impossible to reverse. The founding fathers warned against foreign entanglements for good reason. This is exactly what they meant.”

Every page named below was opened and read on 2026-09-28 unless the entry says otherwise. His campaign site was read in full: the home page, about, platform, food independence, Live Free or Die, press and media, and get involved. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Mahrou has never held federal office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks is his. The funding badges on this record show what the tracked committees have spent on him.
U.S. military aid and weapons to the government of Israel
[Position, Citizens Count Issue Survey 2026; the page dates the survey only by year, so recorded on the date we read it, 2026-09-28] Citizens Count's profile, heading "Limit aid to Israel", position "For". Question: "Should military aid to Israel include a requirement that Israel take certain actions to reduce civilian casualties?" His answer, in full: "Section 224 of the 2027 NDAA would deeply entangle U.S. and Israeli defense industries across research, development, co-production, and intelligence cooperation, and would shelter that relationship from regular congressional oversight, making it nearly impossible to reverse. The founding fathers warned against foreign entanglements for good reason. This is exactly what they meant. Beyond Section 224, my position is clear. That line has been crossed, and American funding and weapons should not be any part of what is happening"
[Position, read 2026-09-28] His platform, plank 06, "End forever wars and bring resources home", lists among his approaches in Congress: "Repeal the 2001 AUMF and other broad open-ended war authorizations", "Enforce the War Powers Resolution", "Prioritize smart diplomacy and economic tools over military intervention" and "Oppose foreign financial commitments while domestic needs go unmet". The plank's figures are about the cost of the war with Iran; it names no other country.
[Position, Citizens Count Issue Survey 2026] On military aid to Ukraine (position "Other") he wrote, in part: "There is a real difference between weapon sales and unconditional aid. If Ukraine or European allies want to purchase American defense technology, that is a legitimate transaction. What I cannot support is writing open-ended checks with no defined objective and no exit." He does not apply that distinction in his answer on the government of Israel.

Characterization of the conflict
[Position, Citizens Count Issue Survey 2026] In the same answer: "I do not support Israel's current military campaign", the International Criminal Court's arrest warrants for Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant "for documented war crimes", and "There is a line between defense and aggression. That line has been crossed". These are his words; the card attributes them to him and does not adopt them.
Israel-related rhetoric and lobbying
Nothing located, at any date, that names an organization on this subject.
[Position, read 2026-09-28] His platform, plank 05, would "Enforce Article I, Section 9, Clause 8, the Constitution's ban on foreign governments giving gifts, payments, or titles to federal officials, so foreign money can't buy influence in Washington." It names no country or organization.
Safety and antisemitism
Nothing located, at any date.
What the campaign site and own pages say
[Position, read 2026-09-28] His campaign site sets out six commitments: restore affordability; strengthen housing and local jobs; support small businesses and farms; protect rural healthcare; defend the Constitution; and end forever wars. The home page's summary of the last reads: "Bring resources home. Stop pouring trillions abroad while families in western New Hampshire are told there is no money for healthcare, child care, or rural hospitals." The pages carry no dates and are recorded on the date we read them.
[Read 2026-09-28] His press page lists three Concord Monitor opinion pieces (May 16, May 30 and July 10, 2026, on data centers, the farm bill and state infrastructure), a Keene Sentinel letter (May 29, 2026, on ballot petitions and the major parties), an interview video and a podcast with a farmer. The two videos were read from their caption tracks; neither mentions Israel, Gaza or Palestinians.
[Position, submitted 2026-08-09; read 2026-09-28] Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. His messages are about both parties' record in the district, property taxes, energy costs and food processing capacity, and about returning war powers and tariff authority to Congress: he writes that he will "enforce the War Powers Resolution, repeal the 2001 AUMF". No question on the form asks about foreign aid, and his answers do not mention Israel, Gaza or Palestinians.
[Read 2026-09-28] Citizens Count records his answers on 34 federal questions. On the war in Iran he answered against U.S. involvement, and on the capture of Venezuela's president, undecided.
The race
[Read 2026-09-28] His Ballotpedia page records that Maggie Goodlander, the incumbent Democrat, Lily Williams, the Republican, and Robbie Mahrou, an independent, are running in the general election on November 3, 2026. It gives his education as Strake Jesuit College Preparatory and Baylor University, 1999, and his profession as consultant.
[Read 2026-09-28] His campaign site says more than 1,600 people in the district signed his nomination papers, over the 1,500-signature threshold.

Not on the card, and why
His answer on the war in Iran and the Iran figures in his forever-wars plank: not about what the United States sends the government of Israel, and Iran is not a subject for the card front.
His Ukraine answer: used in the deep dive only for the distinction he draws between weapon sales and aid, which he does not draw on the government of Israel.
His domestic platform on affordability, housing, farms, rural health care and the Constitution: out of scope.
