Michael Lawler (R), sitting U.S. Representative for NY-17 and the 2026 Republican/Conservative general-election nominee, is a vocal, consistent supporter of U.S. military and financial aid to the government of Israel and an opponent of efforts to condition or restrain that support. In April 2024 he voted for the House foreign-aid package that included roughly $26 billion in security assistance for Israel and praised its passage, saying Israel 'need[s] our support now more than ever'; two of his own Iran-sanctions bills (the SHIP Act and the Iran-China Energy Sanctions Act, both aimed at cutting Iranian funding of Hamas) were folded into that package. He introduced the Antisemitism Awareness Act (Oct. 2023) and a resolution condemning an anti-Israel rally after Oct. 7, condemned the ICC's arrest-warrant bid against PM Netanyahu as 'outrageous,' and in June 2026 introduced a bipartisan resolution demanding Hezbollah disarm and cease attacks on Israel. He co-led a July 2026 bipartisan letter urging that F-35 sales to Turkey remain prohibited, citing Ankara's 'anti-Israel rhetoric.'
