Joyce Beatty

Democrat · U.S. House, Ohio District 3

Beatty backed the April 2024 package as "aiding Israel in its conflict with Hamas" while saying its humanitarian aid "extends a lifeline to families and children enduring unconscionable hardship in Gaza."

Beatty has represented Ohio's 3rd District since 2013.

Her April 2024 statement on the national security funding package is her only located statement in the position band, and it takes both halves together: the appropriations are "vital in supporting the Ukrainian people against Russian President Putin's unprovoked war, aiding Israel in its conflict with Hamas, and safeguarding our partners in the Indo-Pacific from Chinese aggression. Additionally, the humanitarian aid included in this legislation extends a lifeline to families and children enduring unconscionable hardship in Gaza, Ukraine, Haiti, Myanmar, and other conflict zones around the world."

She added: "Passage of this national security funding package was long overdue... Israel faces threats to its very existence from Hamas and Iran."

The rest of her located record predates the war by years. In 2015 she said, on the Iran nuclear agreement, that she had supported Israel's security and military readiness throughout her time in office, and, on Prime Minister Netanyahu's address to Congress, that a nuclear armed Iran is unacceptable. In 2017 she said any measure toward a peaceful resolution should be a product of direct, bilateral negotiations. Neither release was opened, so both are summarised rather than quoted.

Her recorded votes appear as badges on this card and are not uniform. Beyond the April 2024 statement, no explanation of them in her own words was located.
