Steve Toth
Toth’s 2026 platform pledges to "defend our allies like Israel" and to make sure "every dollar spent abroad serves the interests of the American people". He criticized his primary opponent for focusing on foreign aid. In 2016 he strongly agreed the U.S. should help defend Israel.
Toth is a Texas state representative, a pastor and a small-business owner. On March 3, 2026 he won the Republican primary in Texas’s 2nd District, unseating the incumbent Dan Crenshaw.
His position is support for Israel inside an America First frame. The first search reports his 2026 platform pledges he will "work with President Trump to advance peace through strength, defend our allies like Israel, and make sure every dollar spent abroad serves the interests of the American people", and that during the primary he criticized Crenshaw for being too focused on foreign aid while maintaining that assistance should be aligned with defending key allies like Israel. No campaign platform url appears in the sources found, and the Texas Tribune report on that primary was read in full and carries none of it, so the pledge rests on the first search.
His firmest recorded answer is old. On a 2016 candidate survey, when he was running for Congress in the 8th District, he marked "Strongly Agree" to the statement that the United States should help defend Israel from attack by its enemies. The card carries that as dated history. On a separate 2018 survey for his state house seat he marked "Strongly Disagree" on boycott and divestment measures and added: "God’s Word says I will bless those who bless Israel."
The first search is explicit about the limit: he "has not publicly detailed specific legislative conditions or explicit positions regarding individual U.S. weapons transfers or specific aid packages to Israel".
In May 2025 he wrote that "There’s a special place in hell for Hamas and those that support them", and authored a Texas House resolution in memory of two Israeli embassy staff killed in Washington. One earlier resolution of his sits on the research page.
