Greg Casar
Casar backed the House measure to cut $3.3 billion in military financing to Israel, saying "Americans should not be financing more weapons for Netanyahu". In 2024 he co-led a letter urging suspension of offensive weapons transfers.
Casar currently represents Texas’s 35th District and is running in the redrawn 37th. His position has moved further over four years than almost any other candidate among the candidates on this site, and the movement is documented at each step.
In January 2022, before his first term, he wrote to an Austin rabbi that he supported continued federal funding for Israel’s self-defense while opposing U.S. assistance being used to facilitate occupation or human rights violations. By September 26, 2024 he was arguing the United States must use its leverage, "including withholding offensive weapons to the Israeli military", to stop the bombardment of Gaza and prevent wider war. That December he co-led a letter with Rep. Summer Lee and 18 colleagues urging the administration to suspend offensive military transfers, citing U.S. law on humanitarian access.
On June 29, 2026 he declared support for eliminating $3.3 billion in direct Foreign Military Financing: "The Israeli government committed war crimes in Gaza and helped drag America into war with Iran. Americans should not be financing more weapons for Netanyahu." He restated the position in a video address on July 15, 2026.
