We found no statement or documented position from James Gallagher on U.S. military aid or weapons to Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians. Gallagher, the former Assembly Republican leader, won the June 2, 2026 special election in California's 1st district and was sworn in on June 10, 2026.

In a September 2025 Assembly floor debate he spoke in favor of AB 715, California's bill on antisemitism and discrimination in public schools, saying the issue was not hard because discriminatory instructional materials should not be in schools, and that the law would require materials to be factually accurate.

In January 2024, as Assembly Republican leader, he authored a state resolution condemning Hamas's October 7, 2023 attacks, telling KQED: "This is horrific, it's barbarous, and it needs to be condemned, unequivocally."
