But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

Pia Dandiya

How this mark works

We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.

No recorded votes on the bills we track. Endorsed by DMFI PAC.

Nothing located as of September 2026 has Dandiya taking a position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians. Her campaign's five priorities are all domestic: costs, cleaning up Washington, Social Security and Medicare, schools, and personal freedom.

The email has replies@butwhatcanyoudo.org in cc, so we can post their answer on their page in their own words; remove it if you prefer. Keep the subject line as it is, add your name, and send.

Deep Dive

Pia Dandiya is the Democratic nominee in Florida's 22nd District, a newly drawn seat with no incumbent in the race. A former teacher and high school principal, she was born and raised in Palm Beach County to parents from India, served as a White House Fellow and led public-sector work at Apple. She won the Democratic primary on August 18, 2026 and faces Casey Askar on November 3.

Her campaign sets out five priorities: lowering costs, cleaning up Washington, protecting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, strong public schools, and personal freedom. None of them, and none of the news posts on her campaign site, mentions Israel, Gaza or Palestinians. In August she answered the Palm Beach Post's primary questionnaire about the cost of living, schools, Social Security and climate; no question on it concerned foreign policy, and she raised none. She has not filled in Ballotpedia's candidate survey, and no statement of hers on these questions was located.

You are better placed to get an answer than we are. Ask Dandiya directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in her own words.

Every page below was opened and read on 2026-09-27 unless the entry says otherwise. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Dandiya has never held office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks is hers.

Related rhetoric and lobbying

  • Nothing located in her own words, at any date.
  • [Position, 2026-09-14] DMFI PAC is the political action committee of Democratic Majority for Israel, a group whose stated aim is electing Democrats who back the U.S.-Israel relationship. Its Majority Project announced its general-election endorsement of five House candidates, Dandiya among them, and called them "pro-Israel Democratic candidates". The release quotes DMFI PAC's president, Brian Romick, and nothing from her.
  • [Position, read 2026-09-27] Her campaign's endorsements page lists DMFI PAC among the national organizations backing her. An endorsement is the organization's decision and a listing of it is not a statement; neither says anything in her words about U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel.

Safety and antisemitism (context)

  • Nothing located, at any date.

What the campaign site and her own pages say

  • [Position, read 2026-09-27] Her campaign's priorities page sets out five priorities: Lowering Costs for All Floridians, Cleaning Up a Broken Washington, Defending America's Promise, Strong Schools, Bright Futures, and Protecting Personal Freedom. They cover housing, insurance, prescription drug and childcare costs, tariffs, a ban on stock trading by members of Congress, ending Citizens United, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and veterans, public schools and universal pre-K, and abortion rights and equal rights. None mentions Israel, Gaza, Palestinians or foreign policy. The site's older /issues address still does not open.
  • [Read 2026-09-27] Her about page is about her career in schools, the White House Fellows program and Apple, costs and corruption, and says she was "born and raised in Palm Beach County to parents from India". Her home page, its Spanish version, the endorsements page and the news page, with its posts from her launch through September 9, 2026 (endorsements, fundraising, a poll, a health-care story, the Sun Sentinel's primary recommendation and her Local 10 interview), do not mention Israel, Gaza or Palestinians either.
  • [Read 2026-09-27] Her Ballotpedia profile reproduces six priorities from an earlier version of her campaign site (the five above plus Putting People Over Politics) and records that she has not completed Ballotpedia's 2026 Candidate Connection survey. Sparker's Soapbox's general-election guide (updated 2026-09-20) lists the same six priorities and her endorsements, and her Local Candidates profile lists seven position topics (Jobs & Workforce, K-12 Public Schools, Medicaid & Medicare, Affordability, Abortion, Bipartisanship, Transparency). None mentions Israel, Gaza or Palestinians.

Questionnaires and interviews

  • [Position, 2026-08-08] The Palm Beach Post's voter guide for the District 22 primary prints her answers, edited for length. Asked for her campaign priorities and the parts of the district she would put first, she named lowering the cost of living (jobs, housing, childcare, health care and insurance), public education from pre-K to workforce training, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, reproductive rights and democratic institutions, and the combined weight of insurance costs and climate exposure in South Florida. The form asked no question about foreign policy, and her answers raised none, so it says nothing about her view on these questions.
  • [Position, 2026-08-09] The Naples Daily News reported that she did not reply to its primary questionnaire and invited the paper to a meet-and-greet on Marco Island on August 13. An unreturned questionnaire says nothing about her views.
  • [Position, 2026-07-10] The Sun Sentinel editorial board recommended her in the Democratic primary. Beyond its first sentence the editorial is for subscribers only; the paragraphs her campaign reprints are about her background, her fundraising and a state ballot amendment, and nothing on these questions.
  • [Position, 2026-08-13] WINK News put the same questions to each District 22 candidate who agreed to an interview, including her, and published the answers as videos. The page carries no transcript, so nothing is claimed from them.
  • [Position, 2026-08-30] Her interview on Local 10's This Week in South Florida is a video whose page carries a one-line description only, so nothing is claimed from it.
  • [Position, 2026-05-28] Her conversation on Shannon Watts's podcast, about women running for office in Florida, is audio only, so nothing is claimed from it.

  • The WINK News and Local 10 videos and the Shannon Watts podcast listed above.
  • Local 10's primaries wrap, which mentioned her race in passing; its address no longer opens.

Not on the card, and why

  • The DMFI PAC endorsement and her campaign's listing of it: the endorsement already shows on the card, and the organization's description of its slate is its own words, not hers.
  • The Naples Daily News questionnaire: not returned, so it says nothing either way.
  • The Sun Sentinel editorial: its text beyond the first sentence could not be read.
  • The interviews and podcast: video and audio whose words could not be read.
