But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

Jared Moskowitz

Democrat · U.S. House, Florida District 25
✗Supported sending weapons or funding in 6 of 6 tracked votes

Moskowitz opposes conditioning U.S. weapons for the government of Israel: "As long as you're an ally of ours, I'm not for conditioning weapons to Israel." He rejects the genocide charge while saying there has been "some collective punishment there", and has called for "crucial humanitarian aid to innocent Palestinians".

Deep Dive

Moskowitz represents Florida's 23rd District and, after redistricting, is the Democratic nominee in the redrawn 25th, where he defeated a progressive primary challenger, Oliver Larkin, whom the Democratic Socialists of America endorsed. After the primary, Representative Gregory Meeks, the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, named him the Democrats' ranking member on its Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee.

His position on transfers is stated without hedges. Asked by Zeteo's Prem Thakker in April 2026, he said: "As long as you're an ally of ours, I'm not for conditioning weapons to Israel", the outlet noting he held that view even where international law violations are alleged. In February 2024 he and Representative Gottheimer announced their votes for the standalone aid bill in a joint statement: "We must stand with our ally Israel, get all of the hostages home, defeat Hamas, provide crucial humanitarian aid to innocent Palestinians, and work toward an enduring peace." They added: "For these reasons, we will vote for the clean supplemental appropriations package for Israel." His official Israel page carries the standing platform, and he led a 2024 resolution rejecting a United Nations decision listing the Israel Defense Forces among groups committing abuses against children, calling it a "ridiculous, antisemitic double standard". On the charge of genocide, he told The Floridian in June 2025: "There’s no genocide in Israel, okay? There’s no genocide going at all". In the same answer he said: "Now, there has been a war in Gaza and massive death, and a lot of innocent civilians have been killed. There’s no doubt about that. I’m not denying reality. There’s been some collective punishment there, I believe, but it's not a genocide and not by any definition of genocide."

After his August 2026 primary win he said: "I faced a challenge from the DSA. They threw everything at me and I didn't change who I am or what I believe, and the voters overwhelmingly chose the independent-minded approach I've brought to Congress."

His Palestinian-aid position appears inside the February 2024 statement, humanitarian aid paired with defeating Hamas; nothing located addresses the aid pipeline separately. His extensive record on antisemitism, including publicizing threats against him, is context on the research page.

How this mark works

We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.

Voted to send weapons or funding in more than half of their recorded tracked votes. (Supported sending weapons or funding in 6 of 6 tracked votes.)

A live platform page, dated to the day it was read.

U.S. aid to Palestinians

  • [Position, 2024-02-05] The February 2024 statement pairs "crucial humanitarian aid to innocent Palestinians" with the rest of its frame; quoted on the card. Nothing located addresses U.S. humanitarian funding as a separate question.

Related rhetoric and lobbying

  • [Position, 2026-08-18] His primary-victory statement, as reported by WUSF, quoted on the card. Race coverage: Florida Politics' profile, JTA's race analysis, and Mondoweiss's critical profile; the last two outlets' own framings, recorded and not adopted.
  • [Position, 2026-08] WUSF reports that in a letter to the Sun Sentinel editorial board he declined an interview alongside his primary opponent, "accusing his supporters of antisemitism". The letter itself was not opened.
  • [Position, 2026-09-04] JNS reported that after his primary win Representative Gregory Meeks, the committee's ranking member, "announced Moskowitz as the ranking member of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee" of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Context, not a position on what the United States sends.
  • His platform identifies him as a staunch opponent of the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement, per his issue page. An AIPAC Facebook post thanking him is reported; the address offered for it has no post id and does not open, and it would be the organization's own speech in any case. Tracked funding totals appear as a badge on this card.

  • [2025-06-25; reported, not confirmed] A post on his Facebook page calling antisemitism in the United States a five-alarm fire is reported. The address offered for it has no post id and does not open, so it is not quoted.
  • [Position, 2026-05-16/18] He released recordings of hate-filled voicemails and said America had "passed the Rubicon now on antisemitism", disclosing that a constituent had been sentenced over a plot to assassinate him.
  • [Position, 2026-05-31; reported, not confirmed] In a CBS Miami interview he is reported to have cited antisemitic threats as a reason to keep serving, saying now was not the time to walk away. The only source is a YouTube page that was not watched, so nothing is quoted.
