Deep Dive
Hinson represents Iowa's 2nd District and won the June 2026 Republican Senate primary for the open seat. Her six tracked-vote badges all point the same way, toward more U.S. support for the government of Israel, and her statements match them.
She co-sponsored the May 2024 Israel Security Assistance Support Act, which set a 15-day deadline to deliver defense articles the administration had withheld. Her release: "President Biden hit a new low in his failed presidency when he withheld Congressionally approved lethal military aid to Israel... This legislation will require Biden to send Israel lethal military aid so they can defend themselves and defeat barbaric Hamas terrorists who are backed by Iran." Her April 2024 statement on the supplemental highlighted David's Sling, Iron Dome, and Iron Beam, and her office highlighted that package's prohibition on funding UNRWA, which is a position against that channel of U.S. money to Palestinians.
In September 2025 she opposed allied governments recognizing a Palestinian state, telling the Washington Reporter "it's unconscionable that countries would side with Hamas terrorists following the October 7th attacks" and "Enabling terrorists will only lead to continued human suffering and dangerous extremist threats".
On campuses, she urged the Education Department in May 2024 to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism and to withhold federal funding from universities that fail to protect Jewish students.
