But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

How this mark works

We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.

No recorded votes on the bills we track. We found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

Nothing located has Moore taking a personal position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel. As a state legislator she was one of thirty-four sponsors of a resolution urging Congress to support Israel.

Deep Dive

Moore is a Democratic candidate in Louisiana's 5th District and has served in the Louisiana House of Representatives since 2019.

The one thing on her record that touches these questions is a vote she shared with thirty-three colleagues. In 2021 she was among the sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution 96, which memorialized the United States Congress "to take such actions as are necessary to support Israel". The resolution calls Israel a vital ally, says the United States should support its right to self-defence, condemns violence against its people, and was sent to congressional leaders and to Louisiana's delegation. She is listed as a co-author on the legislature's own record of the measure.

That is a real fact and a limited one. Thirty-four legislators signed it, the language is the resolution's rather than hers, and it says nothing about a particular transfer or appropriation. It is also five years old and predates the war in Gaza. Nothing located since has her speaking on the subject in her own words, on weapons, on money, or on aid to Palestinians, and her campaign site carries nothing on any of it.

What was checked to reach that conclusion is listed on this card's research page. You are better placed to get a current answer than we are. Ask Moore directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in her own words.

Research log

The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.

U.S. military aid and weapons to Israel

  • [Prior, 2021-06-09] Sponsor of Louisiana House Concurrent Resolution 96. Opened and confirmed on two carriers: BillTrack50 lists "Pat Moore (D)" among 34 sponsors and carries the resolution's own text, "A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION To memorialize the United States Congress to take such actions as are necessary to support Israel", and the Louisiana Legislature's bill record lists her among the co-authors. The resolution urges Congress to act, recognizes Israel as a vital ally, says the United States should support its right to self-defence, and was transmitted to congressional leaders and the state's delegation.

⚠ **Thirty-four sponsors.** The wording is the resolution's, not hers, and the card says "one of thirty-four sponsors" for that reason. Nothing in the resolution's characterizations is attributed to her personally. ⚠ Prior to the bands used for card positions, and predating the war in Gaza by more than two years. It closes the card as history rather than leading it.

  • Nothing located in the position band. No statement of her own on transfers or military funding was found.

U.S. aid to Palestinians

  • Nothing located.

Characterization of the conflict

  • [Prior, 2021-06-09] Only through the resolution above, whose language characterizes the relationship rather than the conflict. Confirmed as above; not attributed to her as a personal characterization.

Related rhetoric and lobbying

  • [Prior, 2021-06-09] The same resolution is itself a state-level appeal to Congress, which is recorded here for completeness.
  • Nothing located on lobbying organizations or campaign funding.

Safety and antisemitism (context)

  • Nothing located.

Where else the absence was checked

  • [Consulted, read 2026-08-20] Her campaign site. Opened and read in full; no mention of Israel, Gaza, Palestinians, foreign aid or foreign policy. This is the own-site check the standing rule requires before a card rests on absence.
  • [Consulted, read 2026-08-20] Her state legislative page. Opens; office record only.
  • One further address was offered, https://www.facebook.com/chauna.banks/photos/political-news-louisiana-congressional-racesjust-minutes-after-i-qualified-as-a-/28484328764486228/. It is another candidate's Facebook page, and it was supplied here as biography for her. Nothing is claimed from it.

Race and status context

  • Qualified on Louisiana's certified list for the all-candidate November election in the 5th District, with a December runoff between the top two if nobody clears half the vote. Nine candidates are on the ballot in this district.
  • She has held no federal office, so there are no recorded votes on this card. Her state legislative record is not a federal voting record and is not presented as one.
