John Deaton

Deaton has no federal voting record. His campaign's issues page carries no foreign-policy or Israel section at all; the only Israel-related item on it is a proposed 'Universal Foreign Influence Disclosure' requiring foreign-agent registration for anyone 'pushing foreign agendas (e.g., from Israel, China, Saudi Arabia, Qatar).' His clearest position on funding came at the June 16, 2026 WBZ debate against Rep. Seth Moulton, where the closing question was aid to Israel: Boston.com and Fox News Digital both report that he said he would not vote to send any more money to Israel, Ukraine or any other country unless it is clearly 'proven' that the funding would be in the best interest of Americans and Massachusetts residents — in both accounts the word 'proven' is the only word quoted directly, and the position itself is the reporters' paraphrase. In a July 12, 2026 Jerusalem Post interview he was characterized as having 'called for greater scrutiny of US aid to Israel and Ukraine, arguing that Washington should more carefully assess both the scale of its assistance and the benefits it receives in return,' and the Post reported that he said he would refuse campaign contributions from AIPAC so that voters would see his support for Israel as a matter of conviction rather than financial influence. We found no first-person statement in his own words on U.S. weapons or funding for the government of Israel, and none at all on UNRWA funding, on humanitarian aid to Gaza, or on the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement.
