But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Walter P. Kristy
Other · U.S. Senate, Michigan
–No Position Found
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
No recorded votes on the bills we track. We have not finished reviewing this candidate's public record yet.
Nothing located as of October 2026 has Kristy taking a position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians. His Senate page on his party's site covers abortion, guns, data centers and the environment, and says "End the wars", naming none.

Walter Kristy is the Natural Law Party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in Michigan, for the seat Gary Peters is leaving. He is the vice chair of the party in Michigan, and his campaign page says he was born and raised in Detroit, taught for about 20 years at Gesu Catholic School and now does accounting and tax preparation. He faces Abdul El-Sayed, the Democrat, Mike Rogers, the Republican, and three other minor-party nominees on November 3. He has never held office, so there are no Senate votes on this record.
This is an empty record on these questions. His campaign page lists his views on abortion, gun ownership, data centers, the environment and the First Amendment, and its last item reads "End the wars"; it does not say which wars, and it does not mention Israel, Gaza or foreign aid. It says the party lets him run an independent campaign and that he will "always advocate for the good of the community as a whole and not for a special interest group." He has not filled in Ballotpedia's 2026 questionnaire, and the voter guides that list him carry no answers from him. An empty record carries no implication either way.
You are better placed to change this than we are. Ask Kristy directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in his own words, which is worth more than anything we could write about him.
Research log
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
Every page named below was opened and read on 2026-10-05 unless the entry says otherwise. His Senate page on the Natural Law Party in Michigan's site is the only campaign page of his that could be found, and it was read in full twice. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Undated pages are recorded on the date we read them. Kristy has never held office, so none of the Senate votes this site tracks is his, and no funding from the committees this site tracks is recorded on this record. Nothing located on this subject falls in the reaction window.

What the campaign site and own pages say
[Position, read 2026-10-05] His page "Walter for U.S. Senate" on the party's site. It says "The Natural Law Party allows me to run an independent campaign" and that the party has no control over his positions. His listed views: he favors abortion rights; he supports an individual right to own a weapon for self-defense; data centers should wait until residents have adequate electricity and drinking water, and need local approval; on the environment, polluting executives belong in jail, farms should be helped toward organic agriculture, toxic pollution and plastic waste should be cleaned up, and companies should bear their environmental costs; First Amendment rights are very important; and "End the wars". It says he would act as a check on the executive branch. Its biography says he was born and raised in Detroit, studied economics at Wayne State University, taught at Gesu Catholic School for about 20 years and at a school for children on the autism spectrum, and now does accounting and tax return preparation. The page carries no date beyond a 2026 copyright line.
[Read 2026-10-05] The party's home page carries a letter signed "Walter Kristy, NLPMI Vice Chair" and links his Senate page. It says nothing about this subject.
[Read 2026-10-05] His Ballotpedia page records that he has not completed Ballotpedia's 2026 Candidate Connection survey and lists no campaign website.
[Read 2026-10-05] Branch's voter guide says that as of September 4, 2026 he "did not have a website or any information online", under every issue heading including Foreign Policy and Immigration.
[Read 2026-10-05] Planet Detroit's voter guide lists him with no answers. ChamberLight lists him and says "No sourced statements are available for this campaign yet."
The race
[Read 2026-10-05] Ballotpedia lists the general election for U.S. Senate in Michigan on November 3, 2026: Abdul El-Sayed (D), Mike Rogers (R), Douglas P. Marsh (G), Lydia Christensen (L), Walter Kristy (Natural Law Party in Michigan) and Timothy Long (U.S. Taxpayers Party), with no incumbent. ChamberLight notes that Gary Peters, who holds the seat, is not seeking re-election.
Places that could not be read, so nothing is claimed from them
The social media links on his campaign page (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube) were not followed; it is not clear that they lead to accounts of his own.
Not on the card, and why
His views on abortion, guns, data centers, the environment and the First Amendment: out of scope. Listed above so the absence is checkable.
"End the wars": it names no war, no country and no form of aid, so it is not read as a position on what the United States sends to the government of Israel or to Palestinians. It is on the card front only as part of what his page says.
A page at https://votingmonitor.org/candidates/kristy/ headed "What AI Tells Voters", which Planet Detroit links as news coverage: machine-written, and not used.
Abdul El-Sayed's, Mike Rogers's, Douglas Marsh's, Lydia Christensen's and Tim Long's records: they belong on their own cards.
