Cindy Hyde-Smith (R), Mississippi's incumbent junior senator and the 2026 Republican nominee, is a consistent and unqualified supporter of U.S. weapons transfers and security assistance to the government of Israel. On the Israel arms-sale joint resolutions of disapproval brought by Sen. Bernie Sanders, she voted 'Nay' every time across four rounds (three votes on Nov. 20, 2024; two on Apr. 3, 2025; two on Jul. 30, 2025; and two on Apr. 15, 2026) — i.e., she voted against blocking each sale. In May 2024 she cosponsored the Israel Security Assistance Support Act (S.4337), which would have forced the Biden administration to complete weapons deliveries to Israel and canceled the salaries of officials implementing any withholding, and she cosponsored a companion resolution (S.Res.682) condemning the pause. She has shown no support for conditioning arms on humanitarian conduct in Gaza. She won the March 10, 2026 GOP primary with about 81% and faces Democrat Scott Colom (and independent Ty Pinkins) in November.
