But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Steven Swinton
Libertarian · U.S. House, North Carolina District 13
–No Position Found
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
This is an empty record on these questions. He has not completed Ballotpedia's 2026 candidate survey, and his iVoterGuide profile shows "Did not answer" under every question, as his 2024 profile did. No campaign website for him was found. His campaign's Facebook page and a personal Instagram account are listed on his research page for anyone who can open them. An empty record carries no implication either way.
You are better placed to change this than we are. Ask Swinton directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in his own words, which is worth more than anything we could write about him.

The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
Every page named below was opened and read on 2026-10-08 unless the entry says otherwise. No campaign website for him was found. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Undated pages are recorded on the date we read them. Swinton has never held office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks is his, and no funding from the committees this site tracks is recorded on this record. Nothing located on this subject falls in the reaction window.

Israel-related rhetoric and lobbying
Not confirmed. Our research reported a post on his campaign Facebook page, "Swinton for NC", from early March 2026, criticizing the administration over military action involving Iran. It quoted him as writing that "this administration has betrayed the American People in order to maintain the interest of a foreign nation by allowing their leaders to force our hand into a military operation in Iran which the vast majority of Americans do not support", that the administration "is selling us out more on behalf is Israel and the desires of its government", that President Trump "cares more for what Bibi wants than what the American people want", and that "no foreign government should ever dictate American military policy", with a call for Congress to reassert its war powers. The page https://www.facebook.com/p/Swinton-for-NC-61567643602055/ could not be opened, no address for the post itself was given, and a web search for the quoted words found nothing, so none of this wording is confirmed.

The race
[Read 2026-10-08] The North Carolina State Board of Elections candidate list, November 3, 2026 rows for "US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DISTRICT 13": "Steven Swinton" (LIB, Sanford, candidacy date 12/17/2025), "Brad Knott" (REP) and "Paul Barringer" (DEM).
[Read 2026-10-08] Ballotpedia: "The Libertarian Party primary scheduled for March 3, 2026, was canceled. Steven Swinton (L) advanced from the Libertarian Party primary for U.S. House North Carolina District 13 without appearing on the ballot." Ballotpedia also lists Anthony Aguilar of the Green Party in the general election; the state list above does not. In 2024 "Incumbent Val Applewhite defeated Semone Pemberton and Steven Swinton in the general election for North Carolina State Senate District 19", where he received 3.3 percent.
