Gabe Vasquez
Vasquez voted in 2026 to cut $3.3 billion from U.S. aid to Israel, saying “hardworking New Mexicans’ tax dollars should not be spent on a blank check for Netanyahu’s far-right government”. In July 2025 he called for pausing all military assistance until a ceasefire, and welcomed the October 2025 ceasefire.
Vasquez has represented New Mexico’s 2nd District, a perennial swing seat, since 2023. After his April 2024 supplemental vote, he joined the New Mexico delegation’s letter urging that funding "remains strictly defensive in nature" and pressing for de-escalation and a ceasefire. By July 2025 he condemned what he called a starvation policy in Gaza, demanding the administration "immediately pause all military assistance until a ceasefire is reached" and sanction "Israeli officials who have ordered or condoned the killing of innocent civilians". In June 2026 he opposed NDAA language tying U.S. military priorities to Israel: "We cannot reward a nation responsible for mass civilian casualties in Gaza and constant violent aggression in the West Bank and Lebanon."
His July 2026 cutting vote came with the blank-check statement quoted on the card; Jewish Insider noted he was one of only two Democrats in Toss-Up districts to back the amendment. He welcomed the October 2025 ceasefire agreement.
