Joe Lombardo
Lombardo signed Nevada's 2025 antisemitism-definition law and in April 2026 acted to protect the state's Jewish community; in 2025 he backed U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. No statement was located from him on U.S. weapons, money, or aid in this conflict.
Lombardo, Nevada's incumbent Republican governor and former Clark County sheriff, is running for re-election against Attorney General Aaron Ford. He has taken no located position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel or on aid to Palestinians.
His located record on this issue is state-level and solidarity. Nevada adopted SB179 in 2025, an antisemitism-definition law advocates called precedent-setting, and in April 2026 his office announced actions to protect Nevada's Jewish community. In February 2026 he said certain locations could see increased patrols amid Middle East tensions. On the second anniversary of October 7 he is reported to have called the attacks one of the darkest acts of terror in modern history and to have said Nevada stands with Israel, and in May 2026 he joined the Republican governors' Jewish American Heritage Month statement calling for "a lasting peace to the ongoing conflict." In June 2025 he publicly backed U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
In August 2026 he told JNS he was not asked before Nevada was added to the 21-state brief defending Harvard in the federal campus-antisemitism funding case, distancing himself from a filing made in the state's name.
