Vivek Ramaswamy
Ramaswamy stands by sunsetting the $3.8 billion yearly U.S. military aid to the government of Israel: in April 2026 he said ending it after 2028 "was in the best interests of the United States" and, "for what it's worth," of Israel, paired with deeper Abraham Accords integration.
Ramaswamy, the biotech entrepreneur and 2024 presidential candidate, won Ohio's May 2026 Republican primary for governor. His aid position was built in that presidential run and he has restated it since, so it is current.
The plan, from August 2023: let the ten-year U.S.-Israel military aid memorandum expire in 2028 rather than renew it, so that, in his words then, Israel is "so strongly standing on its own two feet, integrated into the economic and security infrastructure of" the region through expanded Abraham Accords (an existing record quote). "Come 2028, that additional aid won't be necessary," he argued, framing it as friendship rather than a "client relationship." After criticism he clarified he would not cut aid "unless Israel explicitly asks" to relinquish it, per Israel Hayom and JPost coverage.
In April 2026, defending the record as a governor candidate, he told Deseret "I think it was in the best interests of the United States — and for what it's worth, in the best interests of Israel, but I'm looking after the interests of the United States — to say that $3.8 billion a year should be sunset" (an existing record quote). In the same interview he cautioned that "antisemitic instincts of laser focusing on this without focusing on other problems" are "weird, bizarre, and should probably also stop."
