But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

Christopher Reynolds

Independent · Governor, Rhode Island
–
How this mark works

We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.

No recorded votes on the bills we track. We found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

Reynolds, an independent who ran for Congress in 2024, is on the November ballot for governor and has no published platform that we could find. Nothing located has him taking a position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians.

Deep Dive

Christopher Reynolds, who appears in Rhode Island coverage as C.D. Reynolds, is one of three independents running for governor of Rhode Island. He is on the November 3, 2026 ballot with Helena Foulkes, the Democrat, Aaron Guckian, the Republican, and two other independents, Ken Block and Jay Gotra; there is no incumbent in the race. In 2024 he ran for Congress in the 1st District as an independent and won 4.7 percent of the vote against Gabe Amo and Allen Waters. Ballotpedia also records bids for governor in 2014 and 2022, neither of which reached the final ballot.

On the question this site asks, the record is empty rather than thin. We could find no campaign site for this race and no platform in his own words. Ballotpedia's page for him carries no questionnaire answers or campaign themes, and iVoterGuide's profiles for his 2024 and 2026 races carry no answers from him on any subject. The news coverage of the race names him among the independents on the ballot and reports nothing he has said. A governor casts no federal votes on any of this. An empty record carries no implication either way.

You are better placed to change this than we are. Ask Reynolds directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in his own words, which is worth more than anything we could write about him.

Research log

The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.

Every page named below was opened and read on 2026-10-01 unless the entry says otherwise. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Reynolds has not served in Congress, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks is his; the federal funding badges do not apply to a state office.

What the campaign site and own pages say

  • No campaign site for this race was found. His Ballotpedia page lists none, and Politics1's Rhode Island page, a long-running directory of candidates that links the sites of other candidates in the state, lists him with no link. A search for a campaign site under his name and the office returned none. No social accounts are listed for him on Ballotpedia or on iVoterGuide.
  • [Read 2026-10-01] Ballotpedia's page for him says he has not yet completed its 2026 candidate questionnaire and did not complete it in 2022, 2023 or 2024. It carries no campaign themes from him.
  • [Position, 2024 race; read 2026-10-01] iVoterGuide's profile for his 2024 race for the 1st District records "Candidate did not provide" against every biography field and "Did not answer" against every questionnaire item. One of those items reads "Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?" A profile with no answers to any item is a fact about the guide's coverage of him, not a statement by him, and nothing is read into it. The same guide's profile for the 2026 governor's race carries no questionnaire at all.

The race

  • [Read 2026-10-01] Ballotpedia's page for the race: "Helena Foulkes (D), Aaron Guckian (R), Ken Block (Independent), Jasjit Gotra (Independent), and Christopher Reynolds (Independent) are running in the general election for Governor of Rhode Island on November 3, 2026." It says there are no incumbents in the race. Foulkes defeated Governor Daniel McKee in the Democratic primary on September 9, 2026, 62.3 percent to 37.7 percent, and Guckian defeated Elaine Pelino in the Republican primary the same day.
  • [Read 2026-10-01] Ballotpedia's page for him records that "Incumbent Gabe Amo defeated Allen Waters and Christopher Reynolds in the general election for U.S. House Rhode Island District 1 on November 5, 2024." He won 4.7 percent, 10,463 votes. The same page lists him among the withdrawn or disqualified candidates for governor in 2022 and for the 1st District special election in 2023, and says that in 2014 he was removed from the ballot for governor before the general election.
  • [Position, 2026-09-16] Election Desk's account of the Board of Elections certification names Ken Block, Jay Gotra and C.D. Reynolds as the independents who will face the primary winners in November.
  • [Position, 2026-09-16] The Boston Globe's report of the certified primary results names him among the independents Guckian faces in the general election.
  • [Position, 2026-09-30] Ocean State Media's report of a candidate forum names him as Christopher "CD" Reynolds, one of two lesser-known independents in the race. He was not one of the candidates at that forum, and the report carries nothing from him.

Not on the card, and why

  • Descriptions of him by others as a frequent or perennial candidate: other people's labels, not facts about this question.
  • The unanswered iVoterGuide item about the United States' relationship with Israel: a guide with no answer to any of its items says nothing about him, and it is recorded above as what it is.
