Alan Wilson
Wilson, South Carolina's Attorney General since 2011 and the Republican gubernatorial nominee (he won the June 23, 2026 primary runoff), has a consistently pro-Israel record built on state legal/policy actions rather than any authority over U.S. aid or weapons. He traveled to Israel in spring 2024, met families of victims of the October 7, 2023 Nova festival attack, and in September 2024 co-hosted a campus-antisemitism summit with the Israeli Consul General's office. In October 2024 he co-led a 25-state attorneys-general letter commending Columbia University for declining to divest from Israel and urging it to hold that position. On January 22, 2026 he sent investigative letters to six nonprofits operating in South Carolina that he described as potentially linked to support for Hamas, saying the state has "been steadfast in our support of Israel as it defends itself." As AG he is the enforcement authority for South Carolina's 2015 anti-the boycott-divestment-sanctions movement (organized boycotts of Israel) procurement law (H.3583), the first such state law in the nation, though no specific enforcement action by Wilson under it was located. No statements were found in which Wilson called for cutting, conditioning, or leveraging U.S. aid to Israel; his stated posture is unconditional support.
