Greg Abbott
Greg Abbott, the Republican governor of Texas since 2015 and the 2026 incumbent, has one of the most extensive pro-Israel records of any sitting governor, though it operates at the state level rather than over US federal military aid, which governors do not control. On May 2, 2017, he signed House Bill 89, Texas's anti-boycott (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) law barring state agencies from contracting with, and certain public funds from investing in, companies that boycott Israel. After the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack he condemned Hamas, directed over $4 million in security grants to Jewish organizations, issued Executive Order GA-43 barring state agencies from buying goods produced in or exported from the Gaza Strip, and on November 2, 2023 traveled to Israel on a self-described solidarity mission with Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, meeting Israeli officials and reaffirming Israel's 'right to self-defense.' In 2025-26 his Economic Development office pursued a formal state Texas-Israel economic office in Jerusalem. No located statement by Abbott addresses conditioning US aid, UNRWA, or reducing weapons to Israel; his record is uniformly supportive.
