But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Elizabeth Lee
Democrat · U.S. House, Arizona District 5
?Mixed
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
Two reviewers, reading the public record as a whole, agree: On her campaign site in September 2026 she pledges to advocate for "civilians trapped in conflict zones, including those in Gaza", without saying where she stands on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. Reviewed by hand on 2026-10-09. This candidate has no recorded tracked floor votes.
Elizabeth Lee is the Democratic nominee in Arizona’s 5th District and faces Republican Mark Lamb on November 3, 2026. The seat is open and no incumbent is running for it. Lee is a registered nurse and patient advocate who has not held elected office, so there are no votes to set beside what she says.
Her campaign site was read in full on September 7, 2026, every one of the 58 pages its own index lists, along with her Ballotpedia candidate survey and two long interviews she gave to Blog for Arizona. None of them mentions Israel, arms transfers, foreign aid or antisemitism. Three June 2026 events at which she spoke at length, a Clean Elections primary debate, a PBS candidate discussion and a Chandler Gilbert Indivisible forum, were not read for this card, and their addresses are on her research page. An empty record carries no implication either way. Ask Lee directly and send us the reply: it goes on this page in her own words.
The money
Checked the five lobbying groups we track; no direct 2026 support found
2026 support from the five lobbying groups we track
Nothing recorded (as of 2026-09-27) from the five lobbying groups we track; earlier cycles and earmarked donations not yet tracked.
Support-only OpenFEC data. Opposition independent expenditures are excluded.
✓ Endorsed by Track AIPAC
Track AIPACA watchdog on AIPAC-linked money. It backs candidates who reject AIPAC support and call for an arms embargo and conditions on aid to the government of Israel. These endorsements come from groups that push to restrict or end U.S. weapons transfers to the government of Israel. Endorsements from these groups are shown for information; they do not decide the mark.
In their words
“Reevaluate military aid and partnerships to ensure alignment with human rights standards”
“Advocate for civilians trapped in conflict zones, including those in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Lebanon, Myanmar, Syria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo who are displaced, denied medical care, or killed in wars they did not choose”
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
Our research for this card began with a search run on September 7, 2026. Her campaign site was then read in full on the same day, all 58 pages listed in its own index, together with her Ballotpedia entry and candidate survey, the Arizona 5th District race page, two long interviews with Blog for Arizona, a KTAR report on the Democratic primary debate, and the 618 posts on her campaign’s Bluesky account back to the account’s first post on August 30, 2025. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. She has no recorded votes on this record and no tracked funding.
U.S. military aid and weapons for the government of Israel
[Position; the page carries no date and was read on 2026-09-07] Her campaign site, on the page headed International Justice, under “Apply Strategic Pressure to Prevent Prolonged Conflict”, three bullet points in this order: “Champion targeted economic and political measures that discourage prolonged warfare and civilian harm”; “Reevaluate military aid and partnerships to ensure alignment with human rights standards”; “Support transparency in how U.S. resources are used in global conflicts”. No country, government or aid programme is named anywhere in the three.
Nothing located names the government of Israel. No statement from Lee on U.S. weapons transfers, arms sales, Foreign Military Financing or the memorandum of understanding was found on her campaign site, in her Ballotpedia survey, in either Blog for Arizona interview or in her Bluesky posts.
U.S. aid to Palestinians
Nothing located. Her campaign site carries no statement on UNRWA, on humanitarian funding for Gaza or on the aid pipeline. The civilian-protection pledges quoted below are about conduct in war rather than about U.S. funding, and they name no country.
Characterization of the conflict
[Position; the page carries no date and was read on 2026-09-07] Her campaign site, under “Stand with Civilians”: “Advocate for civilians trapped in conflict zones, including those in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Lebanon, Myanmar, Syria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo who are displaced, denied medical care, or killed in wars they did not choose”. Gaza is first in the list; the page does not distinguish among the seven.
[Position; same page, read on 2026-09-07] Under “Condemn Harmful Practices in Conflict”: “Publicly condemn actions that result in mass civilian death, forced displacement, famine, and the destruction of hospitals and infrastructure”; “Oppose the use of starvation, siege tactics, and attacks on medical facilities as tools of war”; “Support investigations into potential violations of international law”. No country or conflict is named in any of the three.
[Position; same page, read on 2026-09-07] Under “Support International Humanitarian Law and Diplomacy”: “Advocate for adherence to established frameworks like the Geneva Conventions, which protect civilians and medical personnel in conflict”; “Support diplomatic solutions that prioritize de-escalation, ceasefires, and long-term stability”. The page’s introduction reads: “In a world where civilians are increasingly caught in the crossfire of geopolitical conflict, silence is not neutrality, it is abandonment.”
She does not use the words genocide, apartheid, self-defense or terrorism anywhere on her campaign site, and none of the other material read for this card carries a characterization of this conflict in her words.
Related rhetoric and lobbying
[Position, 2026-04-21] On her campaign’s Bluesky account: “I’m fighting hard to defeat Mark Lamb and replace Andy Biggs in Arizona. It’s time to send people to Congress who aren’t afraid to stand up — and who can’t be bought by AIPAC or any other PAC that treats donations as political favors.” The identical text was posted three times in eleven minutes that morning, as replies inside three separate threads; the other two are at https://bsky.app/profile/nurselee4az.bsky.social/post/3mjyape5n7s2x and https://bsky.app/profile/nurselee4az.bsky.social/post/3mjyad2eivc2x. The account is the one her own campaign site links to. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is a lobbying organization that works to strengthen the United States relationship with the government of Israel, and since 2021 it has run political committees that give money directly to candidates.
[Position; the page carries no date and was read on 2026-09-07] Her campaign site’s front page: “she refuses all corporate PAC money” and “is running a community-funded campaign so that the PEOPLE have more say than the special interests”. She names no organization there. A pledge about who funds a campaign is not a statement about weapons or money for the government of Israel, and it is not treated as one on this card.
[Undated; read 2026-09-07] Our research reported that outside accounts and third-party voter guides, naming Track AIPAC and Vote for Peace, had listed or promoted her candidacy because of that pledge. The Vote for Peace candidate page at https://voteforpeace.info/candidates opened on 2026-09-07 and reads “0 rated candidates across 0 states” and “No public ratings yet”, so it does not list her or anyone else. The other item offered was one person’s Bluesky profile rather than a statement by Lee. Neither is used, and other people’s descriptions of a candidate are not that candidate’s position in any case.
Safety and antisemitism (context, not a position on what America sends)
Nothing located. Neither her campaign site, her Ballotpedia survey, her Bluesky posts nor either Blog for Arizona interview carries a statement from her on antisemitism or on the safety of Jewish or Muslim communities.
Earlier record (before 2023-10-07)
Nothing located. Her campaign began in 2025 and she has held no public office.

Anyone who can open these five addresses, and finds her speaking about U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, would change this card.
Not on the card, and why
Her pledge to refuse all corporate PAC money: a pledge about donations is not a position on weapons or funding, and she names no organization on her site.
Her April 2026 statement about AIPAC: it is about campaign money and who should sit in Congress, not about what the United States sends. It is on the deep dive with that distinction stated, and it is not treated as a weapons or funding position.
The rest of the International Justice page, including the planks on human rights oversight and on collaborating with international partners: no country is named and nothing in them reaches U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel.
Her Ballotpedia survey answers: they check out and were read in full under her own heading, and none of them touches this question.
Third-party listings of her candidacy: other people’s descriptions are not her position, and the one page offered carries no ratings at all.

This is a record of what was checked on September 7, 2026, not a claim that no other statement exists.
But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and
funding for the government of Israel. Every claim on this page goes through at least two verification steps.
