But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Bernadette Greene-Placentia
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.
No recorded votes on the bills we track. We found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
Nothing located as of September 2026 has Greene-Placentia taking a position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians. Her campaign platform sets out thirteen priorities, every one of them domestic.
The email has replies@butwhatcanyoudo.org in cc, so we can post their answer on their page in their own words; remove it if you prefer. Keep the subject line as it is, add your name, and send.
You asked Bernadette Greene-Placentia where they stand.
Deep Dive
Bernadette Greene-Placentia is the Democratic nominee in Arizona's 8th District, the West Valley stretch that runs from Glendale and Peoria north to Anthem. She drove long-haul trucks for 27 years and ran her own small trucking company before retiring in 2024. She won the Democratic primary on July 21, 2026 with 64.6 percent of the vote and faces Representative Abe Hamadeh on November 3.
This is an empty record on these questions rather than a thin one. Her campaign site sets out thirteen priorities at length, from affordability and seniors through truckers, unions and term limits, and not one of them is about foreign policy. She has filled in two candidate questionnaires and answered every question on both. On Ballotpedia's, in 2025, she named reengaging with allies against Chinese and Russian aggression, and supporting Ukraine, among the things she cares about. On the Center for Arizona Policy's voter guide she answered all twelve of its questions and wrote that she wants no more needless wars and ties with allies reestablished. Neither form put a question to her about Israel, Gaza or foreign aid, and she raised none of them herself. Her campaign links to an account on Bluesky whose 230 posts, going back to October 2023, do not mention them either. An empty record carries no implication either way.
One thing could not be read. Our research reported remarks attributed to her in a public comment thread on another person's Facebook page in May 2025, about the conduct of the war in Gaza. That page returns an error, the words could not be checked at their source, and nothing is drawn from them here. What was reported, and the address, are set out on the research page so that anyone who can open it may look.
You are better placed to change this than we are. Ask Greene-Placentia directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in her own words, which is worth more than anything we could write about her.

Research log
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
Our research for this card began with a search run on 2026-09-07, and every page below was opened and read the same day unless the entry says otherwise. Her whole campaign site was read, both of the candidate questionnaires she has filled in were read in full, and the account her campaign links to on Bluesky was read back to its first post. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. She has never held federal office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks are hers.
U.S. military aid and weapons to the government of Israel
- Nothing located, at any date.
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] Her campaign site, bgp4az.com. The priorities page carries thirteen headings with a paragraph and a short list under each: affordability, seniors, healthcare, veterans, immigration, environment, infrastructure, education and skills, next generations, truckers and small businesses, unions and workers' rights, women's rights, and term limits and accountability. The about page, the endorsements page, the news page, the media page, the schedule page, the resources page, the join page and the contact page were read as well. Across all of them the words israel, gaza, palestinian, antisemitism, jewish, hamas, foreign aid, middle east, weapon, arms and military aid do not appear once.
- [Position, 2025] Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey. The page records: "Greene Placentia completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2025." She answered every question on the form, at length. The nearest she comes to this subject is in her opening answer: "We need to reengage with our Allies to fight Chinese & Russian aggression, and reclaim America's position as a global leader." Under the question about the policy areas she is personally passionate about she lists drugs, trucking, Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, women's healthcare, "supporting Ukraine", unions and worker pay. She also completed the same survey in 2023, for the 2024 cycle, and that set of answers contains nothing on this subject either.
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] The Arizona Voter Guide entry published by the Center for Arizona Policy, a policy organization that publishes a survey of Arizona candidates. She answered all twelve of its questions, using both Supports and Opposes and adding comments to two of them, which is the mark of a form filled in rather than skipped. Every question on it is domestic: border enforcement, judges, nondiscrimination law, school choice, abortion funding, religious organizations, end-of-life care, election law, the filibuster, drug and trafficking penalties, age verification online, and artificial intelligence. Her written statement on the same page ends: "No more needless wars, reestablish ties with our Allies and work to strengthen the guardrails that protect our Democracy." It names no country and no conflict.
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] The account her campaign site links to on Bluesky, at bsky.app/profile/bernadetteaz08.bsky.social, carries 230 posts running from October 21, 2023 to September 7, 2026. None of them mentions Israel, Gaza, Palestinians, Hamas, antisemitism, arms, weapons or foreign aid.
U.S. aid to Palestinians
- Nothing located, at any date. Neither campaign questionnaire, the campaign site, nor any coverage read mentions Gaza, UNRWA or humanitarian funding.
Characterization of the conflict
- [Undated at its source; the report gives 2025-05-27] Our research reported remarks attributed to her in a public comment thread on another person's Facebook page. As reported, she called the October 7, 2023 attacks a mass terrorist event, said Israel had a right to defend itself, described Hamas as a terrorist organization that should be destroyed, said that civilians in Gaza were being starved and killed in large numbers by indiscriminate bombing, and said that what the Israeli government was doing was wrong and that saying so did not make her antisemitic. None of this is confirmed. The page does not open, so the words could not be checked at their source, the thread belongs to someone else's account rather than hers, and remarks in a comment thread are a reply to other people rather than a published statement. Nothing from it is used on the card. The address, printed rather than linked because it does not open, is https://www.facebook.com/pricesandra/posts/i-just-did-something-new-we-are-heading-into-the-2026-election-cycle-and-i-am-ge/10162338834198791/ . It is the only address our research offered for any of it, and it was the source given for all four of the claims above. If someone reads that thread and finds her words there, this card should be rewritten around them.
- Nothing else located, at any date.
Related rhetoric and lobbying
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] Ballotpedia lists three endorsements for her in this election, all of them voting groups on Sway, an app on which members build and share lists of candidates they recommend: "Mamdanification", "The Dad Briefs' Kitchen Table" and "Vote for Peace". The Vote for Peace group's page is titled "Reject AIPAC from City Council to Congress" and records 554 recommendations and 110 voters. AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, is a lobbying organization that works for close United States and Israel ties. These are other people's recommendations of her, not statements by her, and no position of hers is read from them.
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] Her campaign's own endorsements page lists the Laborers' International Union of North America, Stonewall Democrats of Arizona, Courage for Democracy, Unity Rising, Equality Arizona, Moms Demand Action, the Committee to Protect Health Care, the AFL-CIO, the Arizona Building and Construction Trades Council and the National Women's Political Caucus, plus named local supporters. None of the Sway groups appears on it.
- No pledge about money from any organization, in either direction, was found under her name.
Safety and antisemitism (context, not an answer to what America sends)
- Nothing located, at any date, beyond the unconfirmed Facebook material recorded above.
What was read, and what it was about
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] Ballotpedia's page for the race: "Incumbent Abraham Hamadeh and Bernadette Greene Placentia are running in the general election for U.S. House Arizona District 8 on November 3, 2026." She defeated Raymond Keeler in the Democratic primary on July 21, 2026 with 25,462 votes to 13,971. She had entered the 2024 primary in the same district and withdrew.
- [Position, 2026-06-15] KTAR's report of the Democratic primary debate, which covers the debate between her and Raymond Keeler. It is about working-class voters, the district and the incumbent. Foreign policy of any kind does not come up in the report. Arizona PBS also lists the debate and AZPM carries a recording; the recording was not watched.
- [Position, read 2026-09-07] The Arizona Ballot Guide's page for her lists eleven issue stances, all drawn from her Ballotpedia survey and all domestic, and marks her data completeness as low. The site states that its summaries were drafted with the help of software and reviewed by people, so it is recorded here and nothing on this card rests on it. BallotReady's profile lists six issue categories, none of them foreign policy. A candidate write-up on SenGov dated December 28, 2025 sets out nine issues, all domestic.
- [Position, 2025-08-04] The Arizona State Press reported a rally she attended, listed on her own news page, at which she said the incumbent's values did not align with those of his voters. Her news page also lists her campaign launch on August 26, 2025 and a report of a musical she made about an immigration detention facility.

- The recording of the June 2026 primary debate, and the two campaign videos on her media page. None were watched.
- iVoterGuide has no page for this race that could be found.
Not on the card, and why
- The affordability, seniors, healthcare, veterans, immigration, environment, infrastructure, education, trucking, union, women's rights and term limits material that fills her campaign site and both questionnaires: real positions, but not about U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel or about U.S. aid to Palestinians. It is listed above so the absence can be checked.
- The Facebook comment thread: it does not open, and remarks in a comment thread on someone else's page are a reply to other people rather than a published position. Recorded above with its address, used nowhere.
- The three Sway voting groups that recommend her, including the one named for rejecting AIPAC: other people's recommendations are not her words, and no position is read from an endorsement.
- Her statement that she supports Ukraine and wants ties with allies reestablished: it is the closest thing in her record to foreign policy, and it names no country in this question. It is quoted above and summarized in the deep dive rather than treated as an answer.
- Abe Hamadeh's record on these questions: it belongs on his own card.
