Barr represents Kentucky's Sixth District and is the Republican nominee for the state's open Senate seat. His recorded votes appear as badges on this card and they are uniform: for the bills carrying U.S. military aid to the government of Israel, and against the two amendments that would have cut it, one striking money for joint missile-defence programmes and one barring the funds from going to Israel at all.

He has argued the case under his own byline. In a July 2024 opinion piece he wrote that "a strong and secure Israel serves as a bulwark against radical Islamic terrorism" and, in the same paragraph, that the administration's "recent decisions to pause munitions and to publicly criticize Israel only serve to embolden our adversaries and weaken our strategic partnership." That is the clearest thing on this record about conditioning: he was against the one restriction the United States actually imposed. The same piece calls the rise of antisemitism impossible to ignore and describes protesters who burned American flags at Union Station during the Israeli prime minister's address to Congress as making "a dangerous endorsement of terrorism" rather than exercising free speech.

Announcing his vote for the defence authorization bill in July 2026, his office quoted him saying it "stands firmly with our ally Israel" and prepares the United States to confront Iran and its proxies. A year earlier, asked about American involvement when the government of Israel and Iran were exchanging fire, he told reporters Congress should give the president whatever authorities he sought, adding that this did not necessarily mean U.S. forces would be involved.

In November 2025 he and Representative Jefferson Shreve wrote to the Treasury Secretary asking that the Palestinian Conference for Palestinians Abroad be designated an affiliate of Hamas, arguing the group had helped organize a flotilla carrying supplies past the blockade of Gaza. It is a joint letter, so it supports only the joint wording, and it is about designating an organization rather than about U.S. money for Palestinian civilians.
