Charles Booker (D), a former Kentucky state representative, the 2022 Democratic Senate nominee against Sen. Rand Paul, and the 2026 Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate (May 19, 2026 primary), has taken different emphases across cycles. In October 2021 he told Jewish Insider he supported the $1 billion supplemental funding for Israel's Iron Dome missile defense and criticized Sen. Paul for blocking its quick passage. In the 2026 cycle his campaign platform states that the Israeli government's actions in Gaza 'constitute a genocide' that the U.S. is funding 'despite it being against U.S. law to provide weapons for countless war crimes,' and at a March 17, 2026 primary debate he called Israel's actions in Gaza a 'genocide' and pledged to take no money from AIPAC.
