But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Bob Onder
- Backed with $10K by PACs we track that support U.S. weapons funding for the government of Israel (lifetime)
- Endorsed by AIPAC
Onder's statements are about Iran, not about what the United States sends Israel. In March 2026 he said "a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable" and thanked the President for acting. No position on U.S. aid was located.

Deep Dive
Onder has represented Missouri's 3rd District since 2025, after serving in the Missouri Senate.
His located statements in the position band are about Iran. In a White House compilation of reactions to U.S. strikes in March 2026 he is quoted: "Since seizing power in 1979, the ayatollahs ruling Iran have made their intentions clear: chanting 'Death to America,' and bearing responsibility for thousands of American deaths. A nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable." He thanked the President and said prayers were with the families of service members killed in the mission.
His record before Congress is state legislation. As a Missouri state senator in 2019 and 2020 he sponsored the Stand with Israel Act, barring state entities from contracting with companies participating in boycotts of Israel, and in 2019 he described the boycott movement as "an attempt to harm America's staunchest ally."
In August 2025 he travelled to Israel on a fact-finding trip, recorded in a House travel disclosure.
What is not on the record is any statement of his about U.S. weapons or funding for the government of Israel: not on conditioning it, not on withholding it, not on increasing it. His recorded votes appear as badges on this card, and no explanation of them by him was located.
The record
Supported sending weapons or funding in 2 of 2 tracked votes · Backs 0 of 1 tracked bills to restrict weapons transfers
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.
Voted to send weapons or funding in more than half of their recorded tracked votes. (Supported sending weapons or funding in 2 of 2 tracked votes.)

Research log
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
U.S. military aid and weapons to Israel
- **No statement located** on U.S. weapons transfers or funding to the government of Israel, or on conditioning assistance. His recorded votes appear as badges on this card and no explanation of them in his own words was located.
- [Position, 2026-03-01] White House release compiling reactions to Operation Epic Fury, opened and confirmed word for word under a quote block headed "Rep. Bob Onder": "Since seizing power in 1979, the ayatollahs ruling Iran have made their intentions clear: chanting 'Death to America,' and bearing responsibility for thousands of American deaths. A nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable. Yesterday @realDonaldTrump took action to keep America safe. I am thankful for his leadership in Operation Epic Fury." This is about U.S. action against Iran, not about assistance to Israel, and the card says so.
⚠ A multi-person compilation on a third-party site: his quote was located under his own attribution line, and the many other members' quotes on that page are theirs.
- [Position, 2025-06-14, reported] Endorsed Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, saying Israel moved against an "existential threat to Israel, US interests, and world peace." **The research's only source for this is a post on the Israel Defense Forces' own Facebook page**, which is not his and could not be read. The phrase is not quoted or attributed to him here.
U.S. aid to Palestinians
- No statement located on U.S. humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
- [Position, 2025-02-01, reported] On KSDK's The Record he defended federal foreign-spending pauses by claiming $50 million in federal aid had gone to "condoms in Gaza, which were being used to float IEDs into Israeli territory," a claim the research records as questioned for accuracy during the broadcast. **The source served 627 bytes to every request and could not be read.** The claim is recorded because it concerns U.S. aid to Gaza directly, and it is not quoted or presented as established, because neither the words nor the on-air challenge to them could be verified. It should be read before anything is published from it.
Characterization of the conflict
- [Position, 2025-02-05, reported] On KFRU radio, characterised proposals for U.S. control of the Gaza Strip as an "interesting concept" requiring further review, while emphasising an "America First foreign policy." The source is an audio page; audio was not transcribed.
- [Prior, 2020-10-04] Israel National News interview, as reported: described Israel as "America's most faithful ally in the Middle East." Prior band by three years. Not opened.
- [Prior, 2019-03-14] Described the boycott movement as "an attempt to harm America's staunchest ally, and at worst, attempt to destroy the state of Israel" (KCJC), opened and confirmed word for word. The full sentence is: "The way I see it, BDS efforts are an attempt to harm America's staunchest ally, and at worst, attempt to destroy the state of Israel." Note the attribution chain: the page reports that "Onder told the Forward," so this is one outlet quoting another's interview. Prior band.
Related rhetoric and lobbying
- [Prior, 2019 to 2020] As a Missouri state senator, sponsored Senate Bill 739, the Stand with Israel Act, barring public state entities from contracting with companies participating in boycotts of Israel. State legislation, prior band.
- [Position, 2025-08-03 to 2025-08-11] Travelled to Israel on a fact-finding trip, recorded in a Legistorm trip record and a House travel disclosure. Disclosure filings are the appropriate record for a sponsored trip.
Safety and antisemitism (context)
- [Prior, 2020-10-04, reported] Described certain demonstrations as an "openly antisemitic" and "increasingly violent movement." Prior band and safety context; never an answer about U.S. weapons or funding.
- [Position, 2025-05-08] Named in coverage of a congressional hearing on antisemitism at Haverford College. Not opened.
Note on sources
- Of seventeen sources found, six are unlabelled YouTube videos or shorts (three duplicated), two are duplicates of the Israel National News piece, two of the Legistorm trip record, one is the IDF's own Facebook page and one is an audio-only page. Two of the three sources for his aid and Palestinian-aid dimensions belong to other organisations or served no content.
