But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Bethany E Mann
Democrat · U.S. House, Missouri District 3
–No Position Found
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
No recorded votes on the bills we track. We found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
No position from Mann on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians, could be verified (source-checked research). Her campaign site and her Ballotpedia page do not mention Israel at all.
The email has replies@butwhatcanyoudo.org in cc, so we can post their answer on their page in their own words; remove it if you prefer. Keep the subject line as it is, add your name, and send.
Mann is the Democratic candidate for Missouri's 3rd District.
Her campaign website and her Ballotpedia page were both read in full on 11 August 2026. Neither mentions Israel, Gaza, or foreign policy anywhere.
Everything else offered for her is a Facebook post or comment. We tried to open those links and were unable to, and a volunteer who tried them could not open them either. What came back with them is strong material, including a description of Israeli conduct in Gaza as war crimes. This site does not put words like that in a candidate's mouth on the strength of a link a reader cannot open, so they are recorded on the research page as reported and unverified, and this card says plainly that we do not know where she stands.
She has no federal voting record.
You are better placed to change that than we are. Ask Mann directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in her own words.

Research log
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
U.S. military aid and weapons to Israel
**No verified statement.** Her campaign website and her Ballotpedia page were both opened and read in full: **neither contains the words Israel, Gaza, or foreign policy.**
[Reported, August 2026, unverified] As reported, in a social media reply to a voter asking about funding for Israel, she said she does not support Prime Minister Netanyahu's government, citing war crimes in Gaza, and criticised the executive branch and Congress for blocking congressionally budgeted USAID humanitarian funding, saying this contributed to famine and restricted medical care for children and mothers in Gaza. The research's sources for this dimension are Facebook posts on her campaign page and a comment in a Facebook group. **We tried to open those links and were unable to, and a volunteer could not open them either**, so this is recorded as reported and is not quoted or attributed to her in her own voice.
She has no federal voting record.
U.S. aid to Palestinians
[Reported, August 2026, unverified] The USAID humanitarian-funding criticism above is the reported material. Same sources, same status.
Characterization of the conflict
[Reported, 2026-08-04, unverified] As reported, a Facebook comment characterised Israeli actions in Gaza as "war crimes" and said the restriction of humanitarian aid and medical care has been "rightfully defined as genocide by NATO and International courts." We could not open the page it is on, so it is not quoted. Note also that the attribution of such a definition to NATO would not be accurate, which is a further reason not to publish the sentence in her voice without reading it.
[After October 7, 2023-12-15, reported] A Facebook post about reproductive rights that referred to Israeli law and Jewish traditions on abortion access. From the weeks right after October 7, off-topic to this site's question, and a link we could not open.
[Position, 2024-08, reported] Publicly backed Rep. Cori Bush in her primary. **Two of the sources for this are posts on Cori Bush's own page** (here), which are Bush's words and not hers. An endorsement is also not a position on U.S. assistance, and nothing about Mann's own views is inferred from Bush's.
Related rhetoric and lobbying
[Position, 2024-08, reported] Criticised AIPAC's Super PAC during the 2024 Democratic primary in Missouri's 1st District, in terms the research turns up as "extremist and warmongering lobby group." We could not open the page it is on, so it is recorded but not quoted.
Safety and antisemitism (context)
The research records nothing.
Note on why this card is written as an absence
Nine sources, **every one of them a Facebook URL or a duplicate**, plus her own site and Ballotpedia which say nothing on the subject. Four of the nine are duplicates and two belong to another politician. The reported material is strong enough that it would lead the card if it could be read, which is exactly why it must be read first: a card that quotes a candidate calling something a war crime, sourced to a link a reader cannot open, is a claim the site cannot stand behind.
But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and
funding for the government of Israel. Every claim on this page goes through at least two verification steps.
