Deep Dive

Sevier White is the Libertarian Party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in Oklahoma. He is 78 and lives in Norman, and he spent his working life teaching: social studies and sciences in Oklahoma through the 1970s and early 1980s, English in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia in 1973, 1979 and 1984, and substitute teaching until 1991. He also coached wrestling. He has never held office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks is his. He filed for this seat on April 3, 2026 and advanced without appearing on a primary ballot, because the Libertarian primary set for June 16, 2026 was cancelled. He is one of five candidates on the general election ballot on November 3, 2026, with Kevin Hern, the Republican nominee, N'Kiyla Thomas, the Democratic nominee, and the independents Ron Meinhardt and Curtis Stinnett. There is no incumbent, because the seat is the one Markwayne Mullin resigned in March 2026. He ran once before, taking 4.3 percent in Oklahoma's 4th District in 2016.

There is nothing under his name on this question, and almost nothing under it on any question. He has no campaign website and no campaign account on any platform that could be found. He has filed no campaign finance report, and Ballotpedia's page for him carries no contact address at all and asks readers to send one in. He has not answered that site's candidate questionnaire.

The one guide that carries an entry for him is the voter guide the League of Women Voters of Oklahoma publishes, a nonpartisan guide that prints the same six sections for every candidate in this race. His biography is there in full. Under economy, energy, foreign policy, taxes and healthcare it prints the same four words each time: "Not available at press time". Those are the guide's words about what it could not obtain by the day it went to print, and they are not a statement by him. An empty record carries no implication either way.

The guide is nonpartisan and prints the same six sections for each of the five candidates: about, economy, energy, foreign policy, taxes and healthcare. Read under his own name, his about section is complete: age 78, lives in Norman, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oklahoma City University in 1972 and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma in 1971, and an occupation reading "Substitute Teacher, 1976–1991 • Teacher, English, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, 1973, 1979, 1984 • Teacher, Social Studies and Sciences, 1974–1982 • Wrestling Coach, 1974–1982". His other five sections each read, in full, "Not available at press time". That is the guide's own formula for what it could not obtain by press day, and it is recorded here as such and not as a refusal or a silence of his. The same page shows that the guide does print an answer on this subject when it has one, because another candidate's foreign policy section carries "Opposes US funding Israeli military action in Gaza."   • [Read 2026-09-22] Ballotpedia's page for the 2026 U.S. Senate election in Oklahoma states: "N'Kiyla Thomas, Kevin Hern, Sevier White, Ron Meinhardt, and Curtis Stinnett are running in the general election for U.S. Senate Oklahoma on November 3, 2026." It records that there are no incumbents in the race, that the seat is the Class II seat previously held by Markwayne Mullin, who first took office in 2023 and resigned in March 2026, that the primary was June 16, 2026 and the primary runoff August 25, 2026, and that the filing deadline was April 3, 2026. Hern won the Republican primary on June 16, 2026 with 69.8 percent and 267,222 votes. Thomas won the Democratic primary runoff on August 25, 2026 with 58.7 percent and 34,111 votes against Jim Priest. The Libertarian primary was cancelled and White advanced from it without appearing on a primary ballot. Meinhardt and Stinnett are independents and were in no primary.

Its table is loaded by the page rather than printed in it, and the page's own data address was read directly. It records 611 state filings in that period and thirteen for United States Senator: five Republicans, five Democrats, Sevier White for the Libertarians, and the independents Curtis Stinnett and Ron Meinhardt. White's row gives his party as Libertarian, his filing date as April 3, 2026 and his age at filing as 77; the voter guide gives his age as 78, which is consistent with a birthday since April.
