How this mark works

We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.

Two reviewers, reading the public record as a whole, agree: His first-person, signed Senate message opens with Defund Israel, a call to end U.S. funding to Israel that necessarily takes in the military funding, with nothing pointing the other way. Reviewed by hand on 2026-10-01. This candidate has no recorded tracked floor votes.

Hackett, the Constitution Party nominee, opens his Senate message on his party's website with “Defund Israel.” The same list calls to defund Ukraine and the United Nations, and it does not say which funding it means. Nothing located has him addressing U.S. aid to Palestinians.

Deep Dive

Mark Hackett, of Greenville, is the Constitution Party's nominee for the U.S. Senate in South Carolina. The party's state chapter describes its goal as limiting the federal government to its constitutional boundaries and restoring American law to what it calls its Biblical foundations. He filed with the State Election Commission on March 23, 2026 and is in a four-way general election on November 3 with Senator Darline Graham, the Republican, Annie Andrews, the Democrat, and Kasie Whitener, the Libertarian. He was the party's candidate for the House in the 4th District in 2024 and in the 6th District in 2020, winning 2.8 percent of the vote in 2024.

The only statement of his on the subject that could be found is a short message in his own voice on the home page of the Constitution Party of South Carolina, under the heading “CPSC Nominates Mark Hackett for US Senate”. It reads, in full: “Defund Israel. Defund Ukraine. Defund the UN. Get out of NATO. No more unconstitutional, undeclared no win wars. I promise to vote no on all legislation that does not reduce the 37 trillion dollar debt. Mark Hackett for Senate.” It does not say whether he means military aid to the government of Israel, other funding, or both, and the page carries no date; it is recorded on the day it was read.

Nothing located has him speaking to U.S. aid to Palestinians, to how he would describe the war, or to antisemitism. He has no campaign site of his own that could be found, he has not answered Ballotpedia's candidate questionnaire in any of his three races, and iVoterGuide's profiles for those races carry no answers from him. You are better placed to ask him than we are: ask Hackett which funding he means, and send us the reply. It goes on this page in his own words.

The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.

Every page named below was opened and read on 2026-10-01 unless the entry says otherwise. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated. Hackett has not served in Congress, so none of the Senate votes this site tracks is his. Undated pages are recorded on the date we read them.

U.S. military aid and weapons to the government of Israel

  • [Position, read 2026-10-01] The Constitution Party of South Carolina's home page, under the heading "CPSC Nominates Mark Hackett for US Senate", beside his photograph: "Defund Israel. Mark Hackett for Senate." The message is in the first person and signed with his campaign's name. What the campaign site and own pages say

  • [Position, 2024 race; read 2026-10-01] The same guide's profile for his 2024 race in the 4th District records "Did not answer" against all 36 items, including "Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?" Places that could not be read, so nothing is claimed from them

  • Vote Smart's biography page for him, https://justfacts.votesmart.org/candidate/biography/190438/mark-hackett (source could not be opened).
  • A Facebook post at https://www.facebook.com/ReesideforCongress/posts/im-on-the-ballot-the-fec-approved-me-the-state-of-sc-acknowledges-i-am-a-candida/122142211065092433/ came up in our research for him. It is on a page belonging to a different candidate and did not open; nothing from it is about him or used here.

Not on the card, and why

  • The rest of his message, on Ukraine, the United Nations, NATO, undeclared wars and the federal debt, is quoted on the card only as the context of "Defund Israel"; none of it is read as a position on this question.
  • Live 5 News's report that he did not respond to its request for comment: a fact about a news outlet's request, recorded above.
  • Other men named Mark Hackett, including a former local councillor in England and a financial market strategist: different people, and nothing about them is used.
  • The unanswered iVoterGuide items about Israel: a guide with no answer to any of its items says nothing about him.
