But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check

Larry Davis III

Republican · U.S. House, Louisiana District 6

How this mark works

We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

See a dash? Ask the candidate where they stand, then send us their answer and we'll review it and update the mark. Or volunteer to help review candidates.

No recorded votes on the bills we track. We found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.

Nothing that opens has Davis taking a position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, or on U.S. aid to Palestinians. A reported statement putting Israel and foreign wars behind domestic needs sits on a page that does not open; his site and survey carry nothing.

Deep Dive

Davis is a Republican candidate in Louisiana's 6th District. He announced in the 5th District in January 2026 and moved to the 6th the following month, qualifying there in August.

The one reported statement in scope cannot be read. A campaign post from January 2026 is said to have set out a non-interventionist platform, naming neither Israel nor foreign wars as priorities and putting Americans first. The address given for it is a local news organization's Facebook page rather than his own, and Facebook answers none of our requests, so none of the wording is quoted here. The reported form of the quotation also elides mid-passage, which would rule out reproducing it as continuous text even if the page opened.

His own campaign material was checked. The announcement video on his campaign page is one of the few Facebook addresses in this panel that answers at all, and it is about faith, family, freedom and the Constitution, with no foreign policy in it. His campaign website and his Ballotpedia candidate survey were both read in full and carry nothing on these questions either.

So the record is an unverifiable report and a set of checks that came back empty. What was checked to reach that conclusion is listed on this card's research page. You are better placed to settle it than we are. Ask Davis directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in his own words.

Related rhetoric and lobbying

  • [Reported 2026-01-24, unread carrier] A campaign launch post is reported to have said: "Not Israel. Not foreign wars... America First means Americans first, always." The address offered, https://www.facebook.com/AN17news/posts/livingston-parish-resident-pursues-congressional-seat/1465585678491029/, is a local news organization's page rather than his own, and it returns 400 to our requests. Wrongly addressed and unreachable; no wording is quoted anywhere on the card and nothing is claimed. Note that the reported quotation elides mid-passage, so the elided form would not be reproduced as continuous text in any case.
  • A second address offered, https://www.facebook.com/WBRZNews2/posts/larry-davis-announced-monday-that-he-will-run-in-louisianas-6th-congressional-di/1373842908119253/, is a television station's page and also returns 400. It concerns his district switch, not this subject.

Where the absence was checked

  • [Consulted, read 2026-08-20] His campaign announcement video, at an opaque numeric Facebook address, https://www.facebook.com/61586718147016/videos/today-we-are-proud-to-officially-announce-larry-davis-for-congress-in-louisianas/1316567977181690/. Under the standing rule a numeric carrier must be resolved to an owner before use, and this one resolves: the post reads "Today we are proud to officially announce Larry Davis for Congress in Louisiana's 5th District", directs readers to larrydavisforcongress.com, and is signed Larry Davis. It is his own campaign page. Its content is faith, family, freedom and the Constitution, with a campaign kickoff date. Nothing in scope.
  • [Consulted, read 2026-08-20] His campaign website at larrydavisforcongress.com. Opened and read in full; no mention of Israel, Gaza, Palestinians, foreign aid or foreign policy. This is the own-site check the standing rule requires before a card rests on unverifiability, and it did not promote the reported statement.
  • [Consulted, read 2026-08-20] His Ballotpedia profile. Opened and read in full, including the candidate survey he completed in 2026. Nothing in scope.
  • [Consulted] A press release on his qualifying and coverage of the 6th District field. Both open and carry nothing in scope.

Race and status context

  • Qualified on Louisiana's certified list for the all-candidate November election in the 6th District, with a December runoff between the top two if nobody clears half the vote. Ten candidates are on the ballot in this district.
  • His own announcement video names the 5th District, and he moved to the 6th before qualifying. That is recorded here so the announcement material is not read as belonging to this district's race.
  • He has held no federal office, so there are no recorded votes on this card.
