Sam Forstag
Forstag would condition aid: "We need to have strict enforced humanitarian requirements on any aid that we are providing countries overseas... That needs to apply to Israel". An earlier interview reports he would vote against sending additional weapons to Israel; that source is on the research page.
Forstag is the Democratic nominee in Montana’s 1st District, a wildland firefighter and union leader backed by national progressives.
His conditions position is verified in his own words, to Jewish Insider during the primary: "We need to have strict enforced humanitarian requirements on any aid that we are providing countries overseas... That needs to apply to Israel, that needs to apply to any country". The same piece records him agreeing with a rival’s framing of U.S. responsibility for weapons it supplies; the rival’s words stay the rival’s. A May 2026 interview with a smaller outlet is reported as him saying he would vote against additional weapons for Israel; that outlet’s page was not readable and the wording is as our research recorded it.
He appears on J Street’s candidate slate. Nothing located has him addressing U.S. humanitarian aid for Palestinians as a distinct funding question.
