Deep Dive

Brecheen has been the Republican representative for Oklahoma's 2nd District since 2023 and is seeking a third term. His recorded votes are badges on this card. On the money itself he has spoken about how it is paid for and what travels with it. Voting for the February 2024 aid bill for the government of Israel, he wrote that he had preferred the previous November's version, which was offset by cuts to the IRS, that "those with a biblical worldview understand that America is blessed when we stand with Israel," and that he would not support "$60 billion more for the war in Ukraine" attached to it. In April 2024 he voted against the rule that brought the $95 billion foreign aid package to the floor, saying constituents "are rightly demanding that we secure our own border before we secure the borders of foreign nations"; the statement did not mention the Israel portion. In May 2024, after the administration paused shipments of 2,000-pound and 500-pound bombs, he was not among the cosponsors of the bill written to force delivery, which Oklahoma's three other House Republicans had cosponsored on the day it was introduced. No statement of his on that pause was located.

At a town hall in Pryor on August 26, 2025, a constituent asked about his relationship with AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobbying group. He answered, as Mediaite reported: "AIPAC is an organization that supports Israel. Before I ran for Congress, because of my biblical beliefs, I support Israel." Over heckling he went on: "I believe in Genesis 12 and Genesis 17. I believe there is something very special, biblically, about the covenant with the land of Israel." The questioner raised a trip to Israel the month before, which the outlet said AIPAC had documented on its social media, and the "$500 million assistance to Israel" the House had just approved, the cooperative missile-defense money an amendment had sought to strike. Brecheen said Israel's systems were "also benefitting America because of technology that we have for the future of warfare," and closed the questions with "You’re not gonna do that." AIPAC's political committee's contributions to his campaigns are on the funding badge.

In 2026 he took a position on whether the aid should continue in its present form. On June 9 he cosponsored H.Res. 1339, which "commends Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his bold proposal to transition the United States-Israel relationship away from traditional foreign assistance" and "strongly supports" a new agreement "to replace traditional military assistance with a framework of joint defense codevelopment, coproduction, and mutual investment". Netanyahu had said in May that he wanted the $3.8 billion a year wound down over a decade; Jewish Insider reported that future American aid "is largely expected to pivot toward a model based on trade, partnership and joint development," and Time reports the critics' concern that moving support from annual aid votes into routine Pentagon programs would make it harder to see and to pull back. On July 22 he was one of seven Republicans who voted against the defense authorization bill that carried the United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative, the Pentagon office that would run that joint development; his statement gave the bill's cost as his reason ("I could not in good conscience vote for this legislation as it authorizes a $263.4 billion (29.6%) increase over the authorized level for the previous fiscal year") and did not mention Israel or the initiative.

On antisemitism, he was one of 21 Republicans who voted against the Antisemitism Awareness Act on May 1, 2024; the reason attributed to him, and his October and November 2023 statements, are on the research page.

Notable actions

• His 2026 campaign site carries no foreign-policy content: the home page states only that "Oklahoma needs a true conservative to reform Congress", and the linked "The Issues" page is a volunteer sign-up form with no issue headings at all, so there is nothing there on Israel, foreign aid, or U.S. weapons transfers.

• After attending Prime Minister Netanyahu's address to Congress, said Israel should be given the leeway to finish the war on its own terms and criticised the administration for being "double-minded".
