Byron Donalds

Donalds has been a consistent and vocal supporter of sending U.S. weapons and money to the Israeli government, first as a Florida state legislator and since 2021 as the U.S. Representative for FL-19. In a December 2020 interview with JNS, before he was sworn in, he pointed to Florida's law barring state investment in companies that boycott Israel as a model the federal government should copy. His clearest single act came in April 2024, when the House split its foreign-aid package into separate bills: he voted for the Israel security supplemental (H.R. 8034, April 20, 2024) while voting against the Ukraine supplemental the same day, and explained the Ukraine vote in his own official newsletter as a border-security objection, writing in the same newsletter that it was "imperative that the United States stands firmly in support of our ally Israel." He has since voted against both floor amendments that would have cut U.S. money for Israel — the July 2025 amendment to strike Israeli Cooperative Programs funding and the July 2026 Massie amendment to bar Israel funds and cut $3.3 billion from Foreign Military Financing. The Zionist Organization of America gave him its Robert Kasowitz Outstanding Patriot and Pro-Israel Congressman Award at its Florida gala in Palm Beach, announced in a release dated April 3, 2025. In the 2026 governor's race the topic has become a live primary dispute: rival James Fishback has campaigned on divesting Florida's roughly $385 million of state and university Israel-bond holdings, and Donalds has answered by saying at a campaign event in early May 2026 that "Israel is our ally. That is not going to change," with The Floridian reporting that he has opposed removing investments in Israeli bonds. His campaign issues page does not mention Israel, U.S. aid or state investment at all.
