But What Can You Do? tracks where 2026 candidates stand on U.S. weapons and funding for the government of Israel. How we check
Scott Jewett
Libertarian · Governor, Florida
–No Position Found
How this mark works
We track key votes on sending U.S. weapons and money to the government of Israel. A check means every tracked vote they cast came down against sending more, on the side of peace and de-escalation. A question mark means a mixed record: they sided with sending up to half of the time. An X means they voted to send more weapons and money in over half of their tracked votes, even as the way those weapons and dollars were being used became more and more obvious. At exactly half, money this election cycle from a lobbying group we track, or an endorsement from a group that backs sending weapons, makes it an X. Only votes actually cast are counted. Where a candidate has no recorded votes on these bills, the mark comes instead from a reviewed reading of their public record (money from the lobbying groups we track, endorsements, and their own words since January 26, 2024). There an X also covers fully backing the conduct of the war by the government of Israel without significant reservations, and a question mark also covers speaking about Israel without saying clearly where they stand on U.S. weapons and funding. A dash means No Position Found: we found nothing in their own words about Israel, Gaza or the war.
Scott Jewett is the Libertarian Party of Florida's nominee for governor, and the Division of Elections lists him as qualified for the November 3, 2026 ballot with Nicole Skelly as his running mate. He lives in Boca Raton, and his campaign site describes him as a businessman and inventor who has worked on engineering problems from building protection to oil well integrity and wind turbines. The party's primary was canceled, so he advanced without one. The seat is open. Byron Donalds and David Jolly won the Republican and Democratic primaries on August 18, 2026, and the Division's listing for the office shows five candidates with no party affiliation also on the ballot.
What he runs on is Florida's cost of living. His answers to Ballotpedia's candidate survey in August 2026 name three priorities: fixing the homeowners insurance market, making Florida a leader in small modular nuclear reactors, and abolishing property taxes on homesteaded homes. His campaign site's issues page adds education, immigration and public safety. None of it concerns foreign policy.
The only foreign policy in anything of his that was found is one line in an earlier version of his campaign plan, a document headed "Full Slate" that was on his old campaign site by May 2025. Its tenth point calls for "a non-interventionist foreign policy" focused on Florida's interests and on "avoiding entanglement in unnecessary conflicts", and names no country. His current site does not carry it. Nothing located has him taking a position on U.S. weapons or money for the government of Israel, on U.S. aid to Palestinians, or on how the war in Gaza should be described, and a governor of Florida casts no federal votes on any of this.
You are better placed to change this than we are. Ask Jewett directly, or at a candidate forum, and send us the reply: it goes on this page in his own words.
Research log
The notes behind this card: what we looked at, what we found, and where each item came from.
Our research for this card began with searches run on 2026-09-07 and 2026-09-28, and every page below was opened and read on 2026-09-28 unless the entry says otherwise. His campaign site was read in full through its own published index (23 pages and 9 posts, about 28,000 words), along with his Ballotpedia survey answers and an earlier campaign plan kept in a public web archive. He has never held federal office, so none of the congressional votes this site tracks are his, and a campaign for state office is not covered by the federal funding records this site tracks. Bands: Position (2024-01-26 onward), Reaction window (2023-10-07 to 2024-01-25), Earlier record (before 2023-10-07), Undated.
U.S. military aid and weapons to the government of Israel
Nothing located, at any date.
[Position; undated document, generated no earlier than May 2024 and archived 2025-05-14 and 2025-09-14] His campaign plan headed "Scott Jewett for Governor 2026 - 'Full Slate'", eight pages setting out what it calls Libertarian 2.0, lists ten policy points. The tenth reads: "Non-Interventionist Foreign Policy: Advocate for a non-interventionist foreign policy, focusing on Florida's interests and avoiding entanglement in unnecessary conflicts. This can appeal to a broad range of voters tired of international conflicts." It names no country and says nothing about weapons or aid. The document's software stamp shows it was produced with a version of Google's document renderer first released in May 2024. The address now redirects to his new site, which does not carry the document. Floridian Press reported the same point on November 17, 2025, quoting "Florida’s interests and avoiding entanglement in unnecessary conflicts."
U.S. aid to Palestinians
Nothing located, at any date.
Characterization of the conflict
Nothing located, at any date. The words Israel, Gaza, Palestinian, Hamas and genocide appear nowhere on his campaign site, in his survey answers or in the earlier plan.
Israel-related rhetoric and lobbying
Nothing located, at any date.
Safety and antisemitism (context, not an answer to what America sends)
Nothing located from him. The Libertarian Party of Florida platform that his site reproduces supports "equality under the law" and condemns any law that rewards or punishes anyone based on "race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other group identification." It is the party's 2022 platform, not his own statement, and it does not mention antisemitism.
What the campaign site and own pages say
[Position, 2026-08-30] His Ballotpedia survey answers, submitted August 30, 2026. His three key messages are fixing the homeowners insurance crisis, making Florida "the world leader in next-generation nuclear energy" through small modular reactors, and eliminating property taxes on homesteaded homes. His answer on what he is passionate about names energy, affordability and "fiscal discipline and honest government". His endorsements are the Libertarian Party of Florida and the national Libertarian Party. None of it concerns foreign policy.
[Undated live site, read 2026-09-28] His campaign site's issues page covers insurance, property taxes, the economy, immigration, education and public safety; his mission page and his biography page are about the same subjects. The platform page reproduces the Libertarian Party of Florida's 2022 platform, which opposes "sending Florida National Guard troops overseas" and names no country.
[Position, 2026-09-10] His site republishes an essay by a supporter first posted on Medium, which says Republicans "promise peace and restraint, then cheer when bombs begin falling." Those are the supporter's words, not his, and they name no country.
The race
[Read 2026-09-28] The Division of Elections' record for him lists Scott Eckhard Jewett for Governor, Libertarian Party of Florida, running mate Nicole Skelly, of Boca Raton, filed on July 12, 2023 and qualified on June 10, 2026. The Division's full listing for this office shows ten qualified candidates: Byron Donalds (Republican), David Jolly (Democrat), Scott Jewett (Libertarian Party of Florida), Dean Abrams, Charles Burkett, Jeffrey Datto, Moliere Dimanche and Frank Russo, each with no party affiliation, and two write-in candidates, Kathy Anderson and Erik Morris.
[Read 2026-09-28] His Ballotpedia page records that the Libertarian primary scheduled for August 18, 2026 was canceled and that he advanced without appearing on the ballot.
[Read 2026-09-28] Politics1 describes him as "Businessman & Inventor". Sparker's Soapbox's guide lists him among the minor candidates and records no campaign website found for him as of September 7, 2026; his site was live when read. iVoterGuide's page for the race lists him by name and party only.

Not on the card, and why
The Libertarian Party of Florida platform's lines on National Guard deployments and equal protection: the party's words, not his.
The Medium essay's line about bombs: a supporter's words.
A philanthropic fund and donations connected to MacKenzie Scott and Dan Jewett that our research noted: different people with a similar name.
Byron Donalds's, David Jolly's and the other candidates' records: they belong on their own cards.
